NEW DELHI: Sixty-nine percent students of the Indian Institute of Technology- Dharwad (IIT) Dharwad, one of the new IITs, are yet to get a job in this year’s campus placements, showed data share in response to an RTI application send on April 24. This is the highest number of students who have not been placed yet among all IITs so far.
According to the reply of an Right to Information (RTI) filed by Dheeraj Singh, 137 students have not been placed this year of 200 who registered for placements including three Pre-Placements Offer (PPO) registrations. 53 IITians were not placed last year.
"The placement season for 2023-24 is ongoing and many students have also opted for higher studies instead of placements. Since placement season is ongoing, the final number regarding placements is not correct," said IIT Dharwad in response.
This year, the average and median salaries of students have also dropped to Rs 12.63 lakh per annum and Rs 10 LPA respectively as compared to last year’s average and median salary packages of Rs 16.41 LPA and Rs 16 LPA respectively.
46% students of IIT Hyderabad , nearly 44% students of IIT Indore and 33% of IIT Kharagpur students are yet to be placed this year, revealed the RTI replies by these institutions.
