NEW DELHI: The number of MBBS aspirants in India has consistently increased in the past years, with last year recording the highest of 24 lakh NEET UG registrations. This makes the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test undergraduate (NEET UG 2025) the single-largest and most competitive medical entrance exam.
The top choice of the students continues to be All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi (AIIMS New Delhi), which is ranked number 1 in the NIRF rankings published by the ministry of education. A total of 17 candidates obtained All India Rank 1 (AIR 1) last year and all of them opted for MBBS at AIIMS Delhi.
The top 5 medical colleges in India, as per last year’s National Institutional Ranking Framework ( NIRF ) Rankings are - AIIMS New Delhi; Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER, Chandigarh); Christian Medical College, Vellore; National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore; and Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry.
Students should note that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a series of clarifications regarding the NEET UG 2025 exams. According to NEET NTA notice , the NEET UG exam 2025 will be conducted in a single shift on a single day in a pen-paper offline format . There will be no optional questions . Students are required to attempt all 180 questions - 45 each in physics and chemistry and 90 in biology - compulsorily.
