Union home minister Amit Shah, on Sunday, launched Sardar Dham Girls Hostel Phase 2 in Ahmedabad for women preparing for competitive, and other exams. The minister virtually inaugurated the new building, which has been established at a cost of Rs 200 crore.

Bhupendra Patel, chief minister of Gujarat, including several other signatures were also present at the inauguration.

“Sardar Dham Trust has done a commendable job of collecting Rs 200 crore and providing guidance to thousands of sisters and daughters of the society in their educational and professional path as well as making excellent arrangements for housing for them,” the home minister expressed.

He also stated that the newly-launched infrastructure can accommodate around three thousand women at a time. Meritorious girl students will get accommodation in the 12-storey Sardar Dham Phase 2 Girls Hostel for Rs 1, the minister added.

The hostel is spread over an area of 10,000 square yards and 6,32,000 square feet. It has a total of 400 rooms and 2 basements, as per the official release.

Sardar Dham Trust to train 10,000 UPSC aspirants

The trust has set a target to train around 10,000 students for UPSC, GPSC, Defence Services, and Judicial Services exams, as per the official press release.

“The youth of Gujarat are progressing in every field, but the names of Gujaratis are rarely seen in the list of services like IPS, IAS, IRS, and Custom Service. If they are trained in a planned manner, their number can increase,” Shah said.

So far, training has been provided to 52,000 candidates, it added. “The Government of India and the Government of Gujarat will provide all possible support to Sardar Dham in this program of training the youth of Gujarati society,” the home minister stated.

The trust is also preparing for an upcoming 10-year project that includes five major goals with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.

Hinting about the upcoming projects across the state, the minister said that the hostel building is also equipped with a library, e-liberary, and reading room.
