Andhra Pradesh government has revised the Muharram school holiday schedule for 2026. As per the revised order issued by the AP government, the optional holiday for 9th Muharram has been shifted to June 25; meanwhile, the general holiday for 10th Muharram has been rescheduled to June 26.
As per several media reports, a government order issued by the general administration (Political.B) department, Andhra Pradesh, has revised its holiday calendar in view of updated lunar calendar predictions and inputs from the AP State Waqf Board.
Under the revised orders, the optional holiday originally set for June 16 has been rescheduled to June 25, and the general holiday planned for June 25 has now been moved to June 26, as part of a formal correction to the state holiday calendar.
The revised notification has been published in the Andhra Pradesh Extraordinary Gazette and applies to all government institutions, educational establishments, and other organisations that observe state-declared holidays.
Uttar Pradesh extends summer vacation in schools
The Uttar Pradesh government has extended the summer vacation in UP schools under the basic education council and recognised institutions till June 24 in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions. As per an order issued by Basic and Secondary Education Additional chief secretary Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, the vacation will now be observed from May 20 to June 24 every year, and regular classes will begin from June 25.
