The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted surprise inspections in 10 schools across Assam, Delhi, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha today, August 13, 2025. The move was part of the Board’s ongoing effort to ensure schools operate strictly according to CBSE norms.
Ten inspection teams, each comprising a CBSE officer and a Principal from another affiliated school, were deployed simultaneously. The synchronised schedule ensured that schools were unaware of the visits, allowing the teams to gather accurate insights into daily operations.
The inspections focused on several key areas, including proper student enrollment, academic compliance, and maintenance of physical infrastructure. The Board also checked whether schools were adhering to the Bye-Laws and avoiding enrolment of non-attending students.
CBSE officials stated that the inspections are aimed at reinforcing accountability and ensuring that students receive education in environments that meet prescribed standards. Based on the reports submitted by the inspection teams, the Board will initiate further action wherever violations are identified.
“The primary objective of the surprise inspections was to probe, scout out and ascertain that whether the schools were functioning in compliance with the Board’s norms as per the Bye-Laws of the Board and are not enrolling non-attending students while maintaining the academic and physical infrastructure in the school,” the official notice said.
