The Monash and Mahindra University, Hyderabad have entered into a partnership and launched joint programmes in mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering. The objective of the partnership is to equip students with two bachelor degrees, one from each college, as per the official statement.

As part of the joint programme, students will pursue their BTech first and second year at Mahindra University, while third and fourth year classes will be held at Monash University beginning July 2026.

Professor Adrian Neild, deputy dean of enterprise of the faculty of engineering at Monash University, said: "The NEP aims to promote an entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging students to pursue their own ventures and contribute to the startup ecosystem. Monash Engineering, with its industry focus, and world leading research facilities, is the ideal partner to provide students with this exposure.”

According to Yajulu Medury, vice chancellor of Mahindra University, the joint exchange programme will help students gain new perspectives on the global knowledge system and its exchange.

“This collaboration goes beyond just student exchange. It sets the stage for our faculty to work together, share ideas, and build knowledge that has real-world impact. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reflects our belief that education should cross borders, spark curiosity, and shape young minds into responsible global citizens,” Medury added.

Further, commenting on the international relations between the two countries, Craig Jeffrey, deputy vice-chancellor (International) and senior vice-president at Monash University, said these collaborations show Monash’s commitment to deeper engagement with India.

“This announcement further strengthens the implementation of Monash’s India Plan, which was launched last year. The NEP 2020 encourages institutions to think beyond borders. Our collaboration with Mahindra University is a direct response to that call, offering students a world-class education that is both Indian in foundation and global in outlook.” Professor Jeffrey added.
