The team focused on Sominone, a novel antiviral molecule derived from Aswagandha, which has demonstrated an impressive 96 percent inhibition rate against the SARS CoV2 virus. The researchers worked to uncover the properties of Sominone. This latest achievement will help in antiviral research, specifically in developing effective treatments for COVID-19.
“We hope that our findings will contribute to the development of novel antiviral therapies and ultimately help in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.", said Das.
The recently granted German patent shows the team's commitment to the field of antiviral research. This international recognition acknowledges the innovative approach and potential impact of their research, which holds promise for the development of novel antiviral therapies.
