BPSC 71st CCE 2025: Commission clarifies biometric attendance issues, says eligibility not affected

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has issued a clarification regarding the biometric attendance process in the 71st Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), conducted today, September 13. According to the Commission, some examination centres reported technical issues in recording the biometric attendance of candidates.

Addressing the concerns, BPSC stated that candidates should not be worried in case their biometric data was not captured, as their attendance has already been recorded manually.

The Commission confirmed that invigilators at all centres had taken candidates’ signatures on duplicate admit cards. These signed copies are sent to the Commission through the respective centres and will be treated as valid proof of attendance.

In an official statement, Controller Rajesh Kumar Singh said, “Attendance of all candidates has already been recorded in hard copy, and the signatures taken on the duplicate admit cards are sent to the Commission through the respective centres.”

He further said that the biometric process is an additional security measure to prevent impersonation, and does not affect the eligibility of any candidate if it could not be completed successfully. BPSC emphasised that candidates’ candidature will remain valid irrespective of biometric attendance, provided their physical attendance was marked.

This clarification contrasts with BPSC’s earlier notification, which stated: “Biometric and facial recognition of all candidates will be conducted. Candidates will be allowed to leave the examination hall only after completing this process; otherwise, the Commission’s decision to cancel their candidature will be final. For the successful implementation of this process, all candidates should occupy their allotted seats 50 minutes before the start of the examination.”

Candidates expressed concern over social media regarding the change in procedure. “First, it must be said that if there is no biometric, the candidature will be cancelled. What kind of rule do you make that it changes in just 5 minutes?” an X user posted.

Another candidate commented that biometric verification is part of the standard operating procedure to prevent impersonation. The candidate argued that if the process was not implemented properly, it amounted to a failure of the examination system, and a re-exam should be considered.
