CAT 2023 records 3.3 lakh registrations, highest ever, says report; application trends of a decade

Last year, 2.55 lakh aspirants applied for the CAT entrance exam 2023, an increase of 11% in overall registrations compared to 2021 and 6 percent in registration of category candidates.
"Registrations this year are the highest in the history of CAT, ever since it was started in 1977. In fact, it never touched the 3-lakh mark before. In absolute numbers, an increase of 75,000 applications, year-on-year, is a record in itself," the TOI quoted Sanjeet Singh of IIM-Lucknow.
CAT registration 2023 was closed on September 21 at 11 AM. In the next step, candidates who registered for the exam will be able to download the CAT admit card 2023 on October 25 from the official website, iimcat.ac.in. As per the schedule, CAT exam will be held on November 26.
CAT registration trends of a decade
Of the total registered, 87% students appeared in the exam last year. Of which 35% were females, 65% males and 4 candidates were transgender. Although the number of registrations slightly dipped during the COVID-19 pandemic period, it saw an increase last year.

In spite of higher registration from male candidates, six IIMs - IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Kashipur, IIM Rohtak and IIM Shillong - will have 43% women in PGP batch. Have a look at the number of applications received in the last decade.
