CAT scaled score
As per the marking scheme, there will be negative marking for multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and three marks will be awarded for every right answer. Since the exam was held in three sections, the overall scaled score is obtained by adding scaled scores of these three sections.
- MCQs: Number of correct answers x 3 - number of wrong answers.
- Descriptive questions - Number of correct answers x 3.
- Total marks - Number of correct answers in MCQs + Number of correct answers in other section.
CAT percentile calculator
The CAT percentile score is calculated using the method given below.
- Number of candidates who appeared in each session is calculated.
- Based on the scaled scores obtained in a section, a rank is assigned to candidates.
- In case two or more candidates obtain identical scaled scores in a section, identical rank is assigned.
- The percentile score is calculated for each candidate using the formula given below.
- The percentile score (P) is rounded off up to two decimal points. For example, all percentile scores greater than or equal to 99.995 are rounded off to 100, all percentile scores greater than or equal to 99.985 but strictly less than 99.995 are rounded off to 99.99 and so on.
