CAT 2024: IIM Kozhikode revises admission criteria; 10% drop in Class 10 weightage

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode will admit students to its management programmes through the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. The institute has announced a revised admission criteria for the academic session 2025-26, increasing the weightage of Class 12 scores for PGP admissions. The weightage of CAT 2024 scores remains the same as last year, 35%.

As per the IIM Kozhikode admission policy 2025, Class 12 scores will carry a weightage of 20% while the weightage of Class 10 scores has been reduced to 15%. Last year, the institute assigned 15% weightage to 12th percentage score and 25% to 10th percentage.
The institute follows a three-stage selection process for MBA admissions including registration of candidates meeting the eligibility criteria, shortlisting for Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI), and final shortlisting which is based on CAT score, performance in WAT and PI, and resume score.
CAT 2024 will be conducted on November 24. IIM Kozhikode will announce the list of candidates shortlisted for stage 2 in the last week of January 2025 and final merit list for admissions around the second week of May 2025.

The details of the stages of IIM Kozhikode selection criteria 2025 through CAT 2024 are as follows:
Stage 1
The eligibility criteria for applying to IIM Kozhikode for PGP admissions 2025 are:

Candidates with a graduation degree having at least 60 percent aggregate marks

Candidates not having a graduation degree but possessing CA, CMA (ICWA), or CS with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks in these degrees.

Stage 2
Successfully registered candidates will be considered for the second stage of the selection process at IIMK. Students will be shortlisted for WAT and PI on the basis of an Aggregate Index Score (AIS). AIS will be prepared based on performance in CAT 2024, Class 10, Class 12, gender diversity, academic diversity, and work experience.

Class 10, 12 percentage scores would be calculated on the basis of aggregate marks in all subjects.

For gender diversity score, only female and transgender candidates are eligible. A candidate with (or pursuing) a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a discipline other than engineering or technology will be given the academic diversity score of 5. An aspirant is entitled to only one of two applicable diversity scores, either gender diversity or academic diversity and not both. Moreover, for work experience score, part-time, project, internship, articleship, pre-graduation, or fellowship work experience will not be counted.
Stage 3
IIM Kozhikode will conduct the written test and interview in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and New Delhi. Students will be given an essay to write whose topic will be announced at the venue. During the interview, candidates’ academic efforts, general awareness, attitude, personality and communication, and quality of work experience will be tested.
Post this, the institute will prepare a category-wise merit list on the basis of performance of candidates in CAT 2024, WAT, PI, and resume. The weightage given to each component for the final shortlisting is given below:
