IIM Amritsar assigns 50% weightage to CAT 2025 scores for MBA admissions

IIM Amritsar MBA admission process 2026-28 is conducted into two stages: the first stage involves a personal interview (PI), and the second stage comprises the final decision regarding admission to the MBA programme .

IIM Amritsar uses a composite score of multiple parameters, such as Class 10 and 12 board exams, graduation marks, work experience, gender and academic diversity, and section-wise scores in CAT to evaluate the suitability of the candidate for the MBA admissions .

IIM Amritsar MBA Admissions 2026-28: Pre PI-scores

The stage 1 process applies to all candidates who appear for CAT 2025 to determine eligibility for a PI. Candidates are shortlisted based on a pre-determined minimum percentile score on each section and the overall score of CAT 2025 .

Further processing for PI and WAT is done only for candidates who are selected in this round.

Minimum eligibility requirements for the MBA batch of 2026-2028

For shortlisting candidates in stage 1, the percentage scores in the Class 10 and 12 board exams are initially adjusted by dividing each such score by the 90th percentile score obtained in their particular board.

Pre PI-scores weightage for all parameters

IIM Amritsar MBA Admissions 2026-28: Post PI-scores

The stage-2 selection process comprises the PI round. The interview panel evaluates candidates’ academic performance, quality of work experience and other personal attributes.

The post-PI score for each candidate is calculated based on the aggregate scores obtained after applying the following weights.

• Personal Interview (PI): 70%
• Work experience: 10%
• Gender diversity: 10%
• Academic diversity: 10%

For MBA admissions 2026-28, pre- and post-PI scores will be used in the final phase selection. The aggregate composite score for each candidate is calculated based on the following formula:

“The selection process, parameters and weights used are uniform for all categories of applicants. Sufficient candidates will be shortlisted at each stage from each social category to meet the reservation requirement for each group, as applicable for that particular admissions cycle,” the official IIM Amritsar website reads.
