CBSE 12th Result 2026: 94,000 score 90% or above; pass percentage dips by 3.19% despite record registration

Over 94,000 students crossed the 90% mark, and less than 1% of the total candidates (17,113 students) managed to score 95% and above in the CBSE 12th result 2026. CBSE 12th Result 2026 OUT LIVE.
The overall pass percentage for the CBSE Class 12 result 2026 recorded at 85.20%, which is a 3.19% drop in the national pass rate from 88.39% in the previous year. The drop rate was despite a surge in the number of students appearing for the CBSE 12th exams 2026.
While the total number of students passing the exam actually increased by 10,802, the sharp rise in total examinees caused the overall percentage to dip.
CBSE 12th Result 2026: Girls outperform boys, top regions
The CBSE Class 12 result 2026 was declared today at cbse.gov.in, and cbseresults.nic.in. Students can download their CBSE 12th marksheet 2026 using their login details such as roll number, school number, date of birth and admit card ID.
Once again girls have outperformed their male counterparts in the CBSE 12th exams 2026. According to the official data, 88.86% of girls have passed the CBSE Class 12 exams 2026 , compared to 82.13% boys.
However, both the groups saw a dip in their pass percentage against 2025, the margin of excellence for female students grew slightly, showcasing a constant trends in the CBSE 12th result.
As per the region-wise pass percentage in the CBSE 12th result 2026, the Southern regions have swept the top four positions. Trivandrum secured top position with 95.62% pass rate, followed by Chennai with 93.84% and Bengaluru with 93.19%.
This year, the CBSE launched an On-screen Marking System (OSM), designed to check the CBSE Class 12 answer books and evaluate them on secure digital platforms - the cbse.onmark.co.in or CBSE Onmark. The board stated that the OSM system would reduce teachers burden and time taken to check board results.
As per the data shared by the CBSE, the CBSE 12th result 2026 for foreign schools recorded an overall pass percentage of 90.50%. Though there was a sharp increase in the number of students appearing from overseas centres, the CBSE 12th result 2026 pass rate saw a slight decline from the 95.01% in 2025.
