CBSE Board Exam Analysis 2025 Live: CBSE Class 10 maths paper 'easy' for most students; topics asked

Students need to obtain at least 33% in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 maths subject exam to qualify it. 

The CBSE sample paper 2025 is available on the official website, cbseacademic.nic.in. Students can use these papers to familiarise themselves with the exam pattern and difficulty level for the upcoming board exams.

According to Vishal, a student from VidyaGyan School, Set 2 was comparatively easier, though he found question no. 25, which involved coordinate geometry, quite difficult. Meanwhile, Piyush, also from VidyaGyan School, noted that the overall paper was lengthy, which may have made it challenging for some students to complete on time.

CBSE Class 10 final board exam will be conducted on March 18, 2025 for Computer Applications, Information and Technology, Artificial Intelligence subject.

CBSE will conduct the next board exam on March 12, 2025, for subjects including Telugu, Arabic, Russian, Persian, Lepcha, Nepali, Limboo, German, Carnatic Music (Melodic Instruments), Carnatic Music (Vocal), Carnatic Music (Percussion Instruments), Thai, Hindustani Music (Melodic Instruments), and Hindustani Music (Vocal).

As per CBSE passing criteria, students must secure at least 33% marks, which is 26 out of 80, in the CBSE Class 10 board exams 2025.

Vamanrao S Patil, TGT Mathematics at JAIN International Residential School, Bengaluru, stated that the Class X Mathematics Standard question paper was appropriately challenging and slightly lengthy. He noted that thorough preparation with NCERT would have been beneficial. The paper provided a balanced assessment, evaluating students' conceptual understanding, mathematical concepts, problem-solving skills, and their applications. Students who focused on a deep understanding of concepts and thorough preparation would have found it advantageous. Effective time management was crucial for navigating the paper successfully. Overall, the paper was tricky, with no straightforward questions, as most were competency-based. The multiple-choice and case study questions were application-oriented.

Ashish, a student from VidyaGyan School, shared his experience, mentioning that Set 1 was particularly challenging, especially the multiple-choice questions. He found most of the 3-mark and 5-mark questions tricky, particularly those based on trigonometry.

According to Shashi Kant Prasad, postgraduate teacher (PGT) of mathematics at VidyaGyan School, Dulehra, the CBSE Class 10 mathematics examination was lengthy but of moderate difficulty, making it reasonably approachable for students. A significant portion of the questions closely resembled those in the NCERT textbook. Despite the variation in sets, the overall question pattern remained largely consistent.

The CBSE Class 12 result date 2025 is expected to be announced in May. In 2024, the CBSE Class 12 result was declared on May 13, while in 2023, it was announced on May 12.

The unofficial CBSE Class 10 maths answer key 2025 will be shared by subject experts shortly. The official CBSE 10th maths answer key 2025 is expected to be released by April end on the official website, cbse.gov.in.

According to Latika Kapoor, subject matter expert at Seth MR Jaipuria Schools, the CBSE Class 10 Maths set 1 paper was 'well-structured'. As per Kapoor, the CBSE Class 10 maths paper 2025 assessed students' conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills through a variety of question formats.

According to Karan, TGT Mathematics at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow, some students found the standard mathematics paper 'slightly lengthy' due to extensive calculations and a few challenging questions. "Overall, the paper was well-balanced. Yet again, the Mathematics exam underscored a timeless truth—consistent practice is the only path to mastery in one of the most vital subjects in the Grade 10 curriculum," said the subject expert.

Shaurya Jain, a student who appeared for the exam said that the CBSE Class 10 Maths paper 2025 was easier than the pre-boards and not lengthy. The CBSE Class 10 students could complete the paper comfortably within two hours and 20 minutes.

Karan, TGT Mathematics at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow, said that the overall difficulty level of the CBSE Class 10 maths paper 2025 was 'highly satisfactory' for most students. According to the subject expert, both standard and basic versions of CBSE Class 10 maths exam 2025 were in line with students' expectations.

The marking scheme in CBSE Class 10 maths paper 2025 is explained below. 

• Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) : carry 1 mark each.
• Very short answer questions: carries 2 marks each.
• Short answer questions: carries 3 marks each.
• Long answer questions: carries 5 marks each.
• Case-based questions: carries 4 marks each.

According to a student named Shrishti, section C was a bit tricky. Section A didn’t have theory-questions and candidates were required to solve all the questions. She is expecting 60-65 marks in the exam.

CBSE Class 10 mathematics 2025 marking scheme: 

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to issue a letter of appreciation to scribes for helping the Children with Special Needs (CWSN) candidates in board exams 2025 being held currently. As a part of the decision, the board has asked centre superintendents and schools to update the data of scribes on the online portal.

In a contrast to mutual reactions to the CBSE's announcement of holding board exams twice a year, a teacher told Careers360 that the exams should be held once only as the dual exams will overburden students, leaving them with less time to study and unable to take out time for co-curricular activities.

While talking to Careers360, some students appearing for CBSE Class 10 maths paper 2025 today expressed a bit of weakness in and fear for topics such as surface area and triangle. While the examinees said they are fully prepared, and worked on formula-based questions, many are expecting marks between 50 and 60 in the 80-mark exam.

As per CBSE passing marks 2025, students appearing for CBSE Class 10 mathematics paper 2025 are required to score at least 33 percent marks in the theory exam in order to clear the exam. 

Students appearing for CBSE Class 10 board exams 2025 will be allowed to carry the following items only to the exam hall:

• School ID
• Stationary items

Students are advised to reach at least 30 minutes before the commencement of CBSE Class 10 board exam 2025.
