The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has requested all its affiliated schools to host the public exams conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in the month of October-November 2025.

NIOS — an autonomous body under the Department of School Education, ministry of education (MoE) — conducts the board exam for Classes 10 and 12 students twice in a year. The biannual exams are conducted in April-May and October-November 2025 for all the streams, including vocational courses.

Citing the long-standing collaboration, the Board said: “Every year, NIOS uses the services and infrastructure of schools affiliated to CBSE for conduct of its examinations. The next Public Examinations of NIOS is scheduled to be held in the month of October/November, 2025.”

It requested all affiliated schools to extend their cooperation and submit their consent for the conduct of NIOS public examinations through the registration link - exams.nios.ac.in. The schools principals are required to visit the portal, click on the examination centre link provided on the homepage to proceed to registration.

“Your assistance will help NIOS in holding Public Examinations of its learners,” it added.

The NIOS has already closed the application process for students to register for the upcoming public exam. As per the schedule, the last date to make payment with a consolidated late fee of Rs 1,600 for the exam is today, July 13.

It also reiterated that the students who are appearing for the SSC or NIOS Class 10 public exam should ensure a compulsory gap of two years from the block or session, and year of passing the exam for obtaining a pass certificate.

“If the learner does not have the requisite gap of two years, he/she shall register only in a maximum of four subjects (including the subjects already passed) for the forthcoming October–November 2025 examinations,” it added.
