The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) held surprise inspections in 15 schools across five 5 states and 2 union territories. As per the board’s update, dummy students were found in many schools. The enrolment in Classes 11 and 12, as per records, was disproportionately high compared to Classes 9 and 10.
CBSE board conducted surprise inspections across Delhi, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
According to the CBSE notice, there were 15 teams consisting of an officer of the board and a principal of an affiliated school to conduct inspections. All the inspections were held in a synchronised way in a short duration to ensure the surprise element remains intact..
“The primary objective of the surprise inspections was to probe and ascertain whether the schools were functioning in compliance with the Board’s norms as per the bye-laws of the Board and are not enrolling non-attending students while maintaining the academic and physical infrastructure in the school,” the CBSE notice read.
