CBSE, NCERT hold joint workshop on Class 9 maths, science textbooks

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) has jointly organised a workshop on the new NCERT Class 9 Mathematics and Science textbooks.

The CBSE- NCERT workshop was conducted to strengthen teachers’ preparedness as master trainers to facilitate the effective implementation of the new curriculum across CBSE schools , according to an official notification.

Several participants, including 110 teachers from CBSE-affiliated schools took part in the workshop.

Highlights of CBSE-NCERT joint session on Class 9 textbooks

Along with 58 Maths and 62 Science teachers from CBSE schools, other representatives from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Sangathan (NVS) were also part of the CBSE-NCERT workshop.

The jointly-organised event took place at the CBSE integrated officer complex, Dwarka, New Delhi.

The sessions on NCERT Class 9 Maths and Science textbooks were headed by several NCERT experts who guided participants on the Philosophy and classroom transaction of the next textbooks, the notification read.

The presentation also included topics such as competency-based pedagogy, experiential learning, real-life applications, problem-solving strategies, and holistic assessment aligned with NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023, it added.

Furthermore, CBSE has been facing opposition from teachers, school heads and education experts over the implementation of its three-language policy .

Recently, the government, the CBSE and the NCERT defended themselves in the Supreme Court over the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s three-language framework by stating that it's important to promote “multilingualism and national integration.”
