The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has extended the deadline for submission of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2026) online application form. Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes will now be able to apply until November 7.

The CLAT UG and PG registration form was hosted on the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in, on August 1. Along with the application form, the Consortium also announced the CLAT exam date 2026. As per the notification issued on July 20, the CLAT 2026 exam will be conducted on December 7 from 2 pm to 4 pm.
The CLAT exam is conducted for admissions to UG and PG law courses offered by 25 National Law Universities in India. The scores obtained by the candidates are also used by several affiliated colleges and participating institutes.
“All admissions to the 5-year integrated LLB and LLM programmes that commence in the academic year 2026-2027 shall be through the CLAT 2026,” it said.

Students are required to pay a non-refundable application fee while applying for the exam. While general, OBC, and NRI candidates have to pay Rs 4,000, SC, ST, BPL, and PwD category candidates will have to pay Rs 3,500.
The cost of CLAT previous years’ question papers is Rs 500; this is not included in the application fee, it clarified. Several students, including student representatives of NLUs, have urged and sent multiple requests to the Consortium to reduce the application fee charges and revise the fee structure.
Students appearing for the March-April board exams 2026 will also be eligible to appear for the CLAT 2026 exam, provided they produce evidence of passing the qualifying exam at the time of admission process.
