Allahabad University releases promotion guidelines for first-year UG students

The University of Allahabad has released the guidelines for the promotion of UG students from the first year or semester to the next academic year or semester, as per the NDTV report. The students can also appear for the examinations if they are not happy with the internal assessment marks (as per the promotion guidelines). The Allahabad University examinations for these students will be held in September 2021.

When are colleges reopening in Odisha?

After the three phases of lockdown in the state due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the unlock process has finally begun from June 18 in a phased manner. The districts in the state have been divided into two categories, A (having a positivity rate lower than 5%) and B (having a positivity rate higher than 5%). 

In the new unlock guidelines, the government has provided some relaxations to establishments, shops and religious gatherings, depending upon which district and category they fall. Educational institutions, on the other hand, are still not provided with any ease in both the category. The government was earlier planning to open the colleges and universities from June 1, after the summer vacations. The idea was put on hold, keeping in view the Covid-19 situation.

The India Today quoted  Odisha chief secretary, Suresh Chandra Mohapatra as saying, "All educational institutions and coaching centers will remain closed. There will be no inter-state or intra-state movement of buses." With the Covid-19 positive cases declining down in the state, the government is yet to take a decision on reopening colleges and universities in Odisha. 

Jammu University releases UG semester exams timetable

Jammu University has released the semester examination timetable for UG programmes such as BCom, BBA, BCA, BA English (Hons), 3 year BA, BSc, BSc Home Science and BCom Hons course. The Jammu University exams will begin on June 22 in online mode. The UG exams will be over on July 1.

Kurukshetra University to remain closed until further notice

Kurukshetra University will remain shut until a new order is not passed, as per the official notification available on the university's website. During this time frame, the teachers will continue to work from home and deliver online lectures. All the meetings will possibly be held with the help of video conferencing in online mode.

"All the branch heads may restrict the attendance of their employees up to 50% of the actual overall strength. Rosters for their attendance are to be prepared and implemented by the concerned branch heads, However, the branch head can call for more than 50% physical attendance of any categories, " reads the official notification.

When are colleges reopening in Jharkhand?

The Jharkhand govt has imposed the unlock 3 in the state along with some guidelines, where it provides relaxation to some institutions and establishments. The schools and colleges will however remain closed and continue the online classes. The guidelines and order will remain intact till June 24. The next decision on reopening colleges and universities in Jharkhand will now be taken in the state disaster management authority's Covid-19 review meeting to be chaired by the chief minister, Hemant Soren.

Lucknow University to conduct exams only for final year students: Report

The Lucknow Univerity will hold examinations of UG and PG students for final year exams only, as per the NDTV report. The Lucknow University exams 2021 will be held in multiple-choice questions format. The students in the first and second semesters will be promoted to the next semester without the exams.

Uttarakhand to hold exams for first and last year students only: Report

The Higher Education Minister for Uttarakhand, Dhan Singh Rawat has clarified that the colleges and other educational institutions will conduct exams only for the first and last year students, as per the report byTimes of India. The remaining students will be promoted to the next year, without the examinations. The minister also urged all the state universities to hold their convocation ceremonies in the month of October.

The term-end examinations for UG and PG  programmes will begin on July 5. The detailed timetable of the MJRPU exams 2021 has not been published yet. However, the university has informed that it will hold the final year examinations for a duration of 90 minutes.

When will colleges reopen in Telangana?

The Telangana government has announced the summer vacations in school and DIET colleges till June 20. The chief minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao is likely to take a big decision on lockdown and curfews very soon. As per the report by DNA, the chief minister is thinking about the possibilities of removing lockdown and lifting the night curfew from June 20 due to the decline in Covid-19 cases in the state. The chief minister will hold a meeting with the chief secretary and police officials and review the situation.

However, in an earlier report, Deccan Chronicle quoted an official in the state education department saying "Students and parents should be prepared to further adapt to the lack of physical, face-to-face classes at least until the end of this year for the academic session of 2021-22". 

Nevertheless, the students can expect some announcement related to the reopening of colleges in Telangana during this upcoming meeting to be chaired by the chief minister. Currently, the universities campuses are working with 50% of staff, keeping in view the Covid-19 safety guidelines. 

When will Uttarakhand colleges reopen?

The Uttarakhand government has extended the Covid-19 curfew till June 22 providing relaxations to some institutions. However, educational institutions are exempted from this ease. The cabinet minister, Subhodh Uniyal said that the decision on unlocking the state will be taken after June 22, considering the Covid-19, as per the report by NavBharat Times.

The colleges and universities in Uttarakhand are closed since April 30, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Uttarakhand government has also cancelled Class 12th examinations for the state board. Currently, the teaching staff in various colleges and universities is delivering lectures in online mode from their home. The final decision on the reopening of colleges and universities in Uttarakhand will be made after the Covid curfew is lifted and the unlock process begins.

Madras University releases time table for April 2021 exams 

The University of Madras (UNOM) has released the Madras University timetable for April 2021 exams. The examinations will be held for UG, PG and professional programmes. The Madras University April 2021 exams will be held from June 21 in two different sessions.

When will colleges reopen in Tamil Nadu?

More than a year has passed since the Tamil Nadu colleges and universities are shut, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now that, the Covid-19 positive cases seem to be gradually going down, the TN government is planning to see the possibilities to resume the physical classes in the colleges and universities. The government will decide on reopening the colleges in Tamil Nadu after reviewing the Covid-19 situation around the state.

The India Today quoted chief minister, MK Stalin as saying, 'We will take a call on this only after reviewing the situation across the state after witnessing how relaxation will play out. Social distance will be strictly followed.'

Panjab University releases guidelines for online exams

Panjab University (PU) has released a set of guidelines for the PU online examinations for regular, USOL, private and re-appearing students. The PU exams 2021 for the 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th semester will begin on June 28. The online PU exams for the second semester will start on July 8. The date sheet for the examination is available on the official website of PU.

When are Uttar Pradesh colleges reopening?

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that it will start opening the schools from July 1, as per the report by India Today. The decision has been made due to a decline in Covid-19 cases around the state. Now, as the state government is planning to open the physical classes in the schools, the college and universities students in the state are asking the very obvious question "When are the colleges reopening in Uttar Pradesh". 

The colleges and universities in the state are shut since last year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A notice stating that the colleges and other educational institutions will open from May 20 was issued by the government, which was withdrawn later on, in view of the prevailing Covid-19 situation. Though the government has provided some relaxations in the new SOPs and educational institution are allowed to work with 50% of staff, the classes in the colleges and universities are still running in online mode.

AKTU final year exams to be held from July 20

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University has released the AKTU exam timetable for the final year students. The examinations will begin on July 20 and will be over on August 7, as per the report by NDTV. The final year examinations and the carryover subject exams both will be held in online mode. The students will be made familiar with the online mode of examinations by conducting mock test a few days before the AKTU final semester exams.

CSJMU Kanpur to hold term-end exams from July 16

Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur will conduct the term-end examinations from July 16. The CSJU Kanpur exams 2021 will be held in multiple-choice questions format for a duration of 90 minutes. The Csju Kanpur exams will be held for 17 days. The results for the term-end exams will be announced on August 25.

Karnataka colleges aim to start next academic year from October

The Higher Education Minister for Karnataka, Ashwathnarayan C. N. through a tweet said that the next academic year is likely to begin from October 2021. He added that unified university management is set to be launched in the month of July. The minister said that we are planning to introduce evening colleges in the metro cities and some interdisciplinary programmes in VTU.

He tweeted saying "Semester exams need to be conducted soon & VCs are planning it. We plan to have evening colleges in metro cities & are exploring options to launch inter-disciplinary programs in some colleges of VTU. Pursuit of excellence & quality with social consciousness should be our aim."

When are colleges reopening in Madhya Pradesh?

As the state of Madhya Pradesh decides to unlock from June 16, the student's fraternity in the state is searching for an answer to the question - "When will Madhya Pradesh colleges reopen?". The state government has formed a group of ministers who are working on reviewing the Covid-19 situation and finding the possibilities of reopening colleges in Madhya Pradesh. As per the latest SOPs by the MP government, the educational institutions and colleges in Madhya Pradesh will remain shut till further notice. The online classes will continue until the guidelines are not revised. The students have to wait for some more time until the government do not come up with some guidelines providing relaxations for the educational institutions and colleges. 

CCS University to hold annual exams from July 2; Semester exams from July 8

Chaudhari Charan Singh University, Meerut has announced that it will conduct the CCSU annual exams for final year students from July 2, as per the report by Hindustan. The first-year students will be promoted to the next academic year. The examinations will be held in four sessions. The time duration of the CCS University exams will 90 minutes. The semester exams of CCS University will be held from July 8.

When will Haryana colleges reopen?

The Haryana government in its revised SOPs has decided to extend the Covid-19 lockdown till June 21. During this course of time, the colleges and other educational institutions in Haryana will remain shut. The government and private colleges in Haryana will provide online classes to the students in the meantime. The students can expect any ease regarding the reopening of colleges in Haryana after the existing lockdown is lifted or educational institutions are provided relaxations after June 21.

When will colleges reopen in West Bengal?

The West Bengal government has decided to shut the colleges and universities in the state till June 30, as perthe revised SOPs. The government on June 15 decided to extend the lockdown for 15 more days along with some relaxations. However, the government did not provide any relaxations to colleges and universities. This means that the physical classes in the West Bengal colleges and universities are not going to start anytime before the month of July. The decision on the reopening of college in West Bengal is subjected to the next revised SOP.

When will colleges reopen in Assam?

The Assam government on June 15 revised the SOPs for the Covid-19 management, as the cases around the state started declining. The revised SOP states that the online classes in all the educational institutions will continue in all the government and private colleges. The government has not taken any final call in terms of reopening the government and private colleges in Assam. The order related to the online classes will remain intact till June 22. 

Educational institutions in Bihar may reopen from July 

The Minister for Education, Bihar, Vijay Kumar Chowdhary in an interview with the Navbharat Times pointed towards the possibility of reopening educational institutions in Bihar from the month of July.  However, the decision will be totally dependent on the number of Covid-19 cases in the state. He added that the students have to strictly follow the Covid appropriate behaviour.

Final year exams in technical universities at UP from July 15 to 22: Report

The Uttar Pradesh government has direct all the technical universities in the state to conduct the final year examinations from July 15 to 22, as per the report by the Times of India. For other students, the examinations will take place from July 23 to 31. The exams will be held in online mode and the students can appear for the same from their home.

The decision has been taken as a result of the recommendations by the five-member committee set up by the government. The committee was set up to find out the modalities of conducting the examinations, amidst the Covid-19 situation.

IGNOU reopens with 50% staff

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) had decided the open regional centres with 50% staff, considering the decline in the Covid-19 cases around the country. The staff need to come to the office as per the roster created by the university officials. The remaining staff is required to work from home.

"All officials who attend office shall strictly follow Covid appropriate behaviour including wearing of the mask, physical distancing, use of sanitiser and frequent handwashing with soap and water," reads an official notification available on the IGNOU's official website.

When will colleges reopen in Jammu and Kashmir?

Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to shut down the colleges and universities till June 30, as per the report by NDTV. The decision has been taken after taking the 'current assessment' of the Covid-19 situation. However, the university reserves the right to call staff for research and laboratory purpose, in case of requirement.  The colleges and institutions were closed in the month of April, as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of Covid-19 cases. 

The decision to resume the physical classes in Jammu and Kashmir colleges will be taken soon, after reviewing the situation of Covid-19 cases in the union territories. In the meantime, the online classes will continue and teaching staff will deliver lectures from their home.

When will colleges reopen in Maharashtra?

Various Mumbai University colleges have begun the online classes from June 14, owing to an old circular released by the Mumbai University, as per the report by Times of India. Later on, at around 4 pm, the university released a fresh notification stating that the online classes will continue and confirmed the reopening of the colleges.

The higher and technical education minister, Uday Samant while interacting with the media also put an end to the question of the physical classes reopening in the Maharashtra colleges. As per the report by the Times of India, Samant said that only online classes will continue. 

The TOI quoted Samant as saying, “Currently, the condition isn’t conducive to start physical attendance. Positive cases are still cropping up and even the threat of Covid-19 third and fourth waves persist. School education minister (Varsha Gaikwad) also declared that schools would continue to operate in online mode,”

Delhi University reopens for staff

The University of Delhi has opened the campuses for academic and non-academic activities keeping in view the Covid-19 safety guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Delhi Disaster Management Authority and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.  The staffs are being called up as per the work requirement and the roster maintained by the section officer or in-charge of section.

Nagpur colleges to continue online classes: Report

The technical education minister, Uday Samant has clarified that the physical classes are not going to resume anytime soon, as per the report by the Times of India. He said that the colleges will continue the online classes and the decision on the same will be taken by the state disaster management authority headed by the chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray.

UP governor directs colleges to send degree by post

The Uttar Pradesh governor, Anandiben Patel has asked the colleges in the state to dispatch the degree to the students through the post, as per the report by TimesNow. She said that the students should not have to run down for their degrees. The decision was taken in an online meeting of the governor with two state universities, Lucknow University and Bhatkande Music Institute Deemed University.

Mumbai University resumes online classes

The colleges affiliated with the University of Mumbai have resumed the online classes for the new academic year from June 14, as per the report by Hindustan Times. The university is currently working with 50% of staff. The Hindustan Times quoted Anju Kapoor, principal of UPG College, Vile Parle as saying “We didn’t get any information in the previous circular. So we contacted the university officials and were told that MU itself is working on the 50%-attendance rule for the time being. So we have decided to follow the same rule and call the staff on a rotational basis.”

AMU to work with 50% office staff

The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) from June 16 has started functioning with its 50% staff, except of Saturday and Sunday. The remaining employees will work from home and teachers will continue their online classes. “The essential services including medical services, sanitation, electricity, water supply, residential hall services, central automobile workshop, telephone department, proctor’s office and computer centre, will continue to work as per the direction of the heads of the concerned department or office”, stated the official notification. 

BHU releases online open-book exams guidelines

Banaras Hindu University has released the BHU open book exams guidelines for the end term students. The university will conduct the online open book exams for UG and PG students from July 10 to August 10. The Diploma and PhD examination are scheduled to be held from August 11 to August 14.
