Uttarakhand: All Classes from 1 to 12 in government and private schools to remain closed today. The meteorological center has predicted heavy rainfall in the district.
Due to torrential rains in Dehradun, the district administration has ordered to shut all schools and Anganwadi centres today, September 18. A holiday has been declared for educational institutions, and the chief education and the district programme officer have instructed to ensure full compliance with the order.
Additionally, the order applies not only to school students but also to school teachers and staff.
The Meteorological Center of Dehradun has forecasted heavy rainfall in the district and a national disaster alert for today. Currently, in all areas of the district, there is an increased possibility of landslides and flash floods in sensitive areas due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
To avoid any kind of mishap, the department has declared a one-day holiday for all government, non-government, and private schools in the district.
The Dehradun meteorological department has issued a 'Red' alert for the district for heavy to very heavy rainfall and lightning with thunder and intense to extremely intense spells of rain.
According to media reports, a rain alert has been issued for Pauri, Nainital, Dehradun, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Champawat, and the same is expected on September 19 and 20, as per the meteorological department. The chief minister has also alerted all state officials and district magistrates to remain vigilant.
