NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) India will upskill the students in emerging technologies like cloud computing, data annotation, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).
The DGT is responsible for implementing long-term institutional skill training through a vast network of about 15,000 Industrial Training Institutes( ITIs) and 33 National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) throughout India. With the support of AWS India, students in these institutions will gain access to self-paced online learning programmes in technologies without any cost.
DGT, Amazon Learning Content
The learning content will be hosted on DGT's Bharat Skills platform – bharatskills.gov.in.
DGT provides course content, digitally blended materials, question banks, and learning videos for all programmes under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) and Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS).
The partnership emphasises data annotation for the advancement of AI and ML projects. AWS India will enable the DGT to train individuals in data annotation and labeling, leveraging Amazon SageMaker Ground Truth, a specialized service that streamlines the process of labeling training data for machine learning at scale.

AWS India will also provide nominated education institutions under the DGT with cloud computing curricula, designed to prepare students for industry-recognized certifications and in-demand cloud-related jobs.
A study titled "Asia Pacific Digital Skills Study: The Economic Benefits of a Tech-Savvy Workforce" highlights that 92 percent of employers in India believe that at least one emerging technology, including AI, edge and quantum computing, blockchain, and cryptocurrency, is likely to become a standard part of their future business operations.
