The Ministry of Education (MoE) has opened the applications for appointment of vice-chancellor of Central University of Tamil Nadu. Eligible applicants can apply for the post through the ministry of education’s SAMARTH portal at vcrec.samarth.ac.in.
The applications for appointment to VC of Central University of Tamil Nadu began on October 10 and the registration link will be active till November 8, 2025 up to 5 pm.
Those looking forward to applying for the post of VC should be aware about the appointment procedure.
A panel of names recommended by a committee constituted under the provisions of act of the university will select the appointment for the VC, according to the official notification.

As per the eligibility criteria, applicants possessing a minimum of 10 years’ experience as professor in a university or 10 years’ experience in reputed research and academic administrative organisation with proof of having demonstrated academic leadership are eligible to apply for the position of VC at Central University of Tamil Nadu.
They should not have more than 65 years of age as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
“A person possessing the highest level of competence, integrity, morals and institutional commitment,” the notification reads. The vice chancellor post carries a pay of Rs 2,10,000 per month with special allowance of Rs 11,250 and other usual allowances.
A day ago, a University of Hyderabad’s senior professor Bellamkonda Raja Shekhar was appointed as vice-chancellor of Yogi Vemanna University, Kadapa, for a tenure of three years.
Recently, the Supreme Court of India cleared the way for appointment of vice-chancellors of eight state universities in West Bengal. The decision comes after two years of discussion between the state government and the apex court.
