The Gujarat education department has approved the inclusion of vocational subjects in the general stream for Classes 11 and 12, effective from the academic years 2026-27 and 2027-28, respectively. The initiative aims to provide students with practical skills alongside traditional academic knowledge.

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, the Education Department has approved the inclusion of six vocational subjects in Group 4 of the subject structure for Classes 11 and 12 in the general stream.
These subjects include Yoga, Health and Physical Education, Fine Arts, Music, Computer Studies, and other vocational subjects. As per the Gujarat education department, these subjects will be offered as optional courses, allowing students to choose subjects based on their interests and skill development goals.
“Under the guidance of Hon. Chief Minister Shri @Bhupendrapbjp ji, the Education Department has granted approval to include the subject of Yoga, Health, and Physical Education, or subjects such as Fine Arts/Music/Computer Studies/Vocational Subjects in Group-4 of the subject structure for Standards 11-12 (General Stream) of the Educational Committee,” the Praful Pansheriya, Minister for Tribal Development, Primary, Secondary and Adult Education of Gujarat posted on X.
The minister states that these subjects will be available as optional choices for students in the general stream. This decision aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for the integration of vocational education at the secondary level to enhance employability and skill development.

In a separate notice, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), informs all recognised secondary and higher secondary schools to submit the annual inspection report for the academic year 2025-26 by October 15, 2025.
As per the official notice, schools can submit the annual inspection report for the academic year 2025-26 online using their school index number and password through the Board’s website at gseb.org or ir.gseb.org. Instructions for submitting the report online have been uploaded to the Board’s website.
