THE Asia University Rankings 2026: University of Hyderabad ranks among top Indian institutions

UoH holds a 251–300 rank band in Asia; it remains among the top 20 Indian universities
The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been ranked in the 251–300 band in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026. Times Higher Education (THE) has released the Asia University Rankings 2026, listing a record 929 universities from 36 countries and regions, based on factors like teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.
The University of Hyderabad remains among the top 20 Indian institutions on the list, underscoring its position among the country’s leading central universities.
According to the data, the university has performed well in important areas. Its research work, especially in chemistry and life sciences, continues to add strongly to its global impact. The university has also seen steady growth in industry income from consultancy and patents, while maintaining stable international connections through global partnerships.

The rankings further highlight that the university has a good academic environment, with a strong faculty-to-student ratio and a high number of PhD graduates, reflecting its focus on research and higher education, according to the UoH statement.
J Anuradha, in-charge vice-chancellor, said the ranking shows the combined efforts of faculty, researchers, and students. She added that the university will continue to focus on impactful research and improving its teaching environment as global competition increases.

Several Indian institutes are still not taking part in global rankings. BITS Pilani chose not to take part in the THE evaluation this year, joining some IITs that had earlier raised concerns about the transparency of the ranking method .
