IGNOU to confer 2.8 lakh degrees, diplomas at 38th convocation; will be broadcast live on March 5

IGNOU 38th convocation 2025 will be streamed live on IGNOU’s 6 Swayam Prabha channels, GyanDarshan, eGyankosh YouTube channel, and other regional centres.
NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will conduct its 38th convocation on March 5, 2025. The event will take place at its headquarters in Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be the chief guest and deliver the convocation address.
During the convocation, nearly 2.8 lakh students will receive their degrees, diplomas, and certificates. As per the official press release, the event will also be held simultaneously at regional centres across the country and overseas centres.
IGNOU previously informed through a press release that students can collect their degrees, diplomas, and certificates from regional centres a day after the convocation. The same can also be sent by post to the addresses provided on the online portal.
The convocation will be streamed live to ensure maximum accessibility across multiple platforms. Viewers can watch the live broadcast on IGNOU’s official YouTube channel (eGyankosh), Facebook page (@OfficialPageIGNOU), and 6 Swayam Prabha channels from 11 to 16. Additionally, GyanDarshan TV, the university’s dedicated channel, will also telecast the event live.
Students can collect their certificates if they meet any of the following criteria:
- Paid Rs 600 at regional centres where the convocation will not take place.
- Invited to the convocation but unable to attend.
- Eligible for the convocation but did not receive an invitation.
Last year, at its 37th convocation held at the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convention Centre, IGNOU Maidan Garhi Campus, IGNOU awarded over 3 lakh degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was the chief guest at the event.
