IIIT Delhi holds 14th convocation; awards degrees to 780 students across BTech, MTech, PhD

The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi conducted its 14th convocation, conferring degrees on 780 students from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

The ceremony saw 517 students graduate with Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degrees across disciplines, including Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Design, Computer Science and Social Sciences, Computer Science and Biosciences, and Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.

A total of 226 students received Master of Technology (MTech) degrees, including three dual-degree holders, while 34 candidates were awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in areas such as Computational Biology, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Human-Centred Design, Mathematics, and Social Sciences and Humanities.

Addressing the convocation, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and Chancellor Vinai Kumar Saxena congratulated the graduates and acknowledged the support of faculty, parents and mentors in their academic journey.

IIIT Delhi confers academic honours and performance awards

As per the official press release, the institute also presented medals and awards for academic performance, including the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, Institute Silver Medals, All-Round Performance Medals, Best BTP Awards, MTech Excellence Gold Medal, Best MTech Thesis Award, and PhD Dissertation Awards.

Anand Deshpande, Founder and Chairman of Persistent Systems, delivered the convocation address, urging graduates to contribute to India’s technological and developmental progress. “He stated that IIIT Delhi’s well-trained and enthusiastic young graduates will play a vital role in reshaping technology and engineering as India progresses towards sustained growth, essential for realising Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Swavalambi and Vikasit Bharat,” he said.

Ranjan Bose, Director of IIIT-Delhi, presented the Director’s Report for 2024–25, outlining the institute’s academic and research developments, including new programmes, research projects, and collaborations.

Addressing the graduates, Bose said, “The experiences you carry from here will shape how you navigate the challenges of tomorrow. As you step into a world that needs your talent, courage, and compassion, choose paths that excite your intellectual passions, ignite your creativity, and channel your abilities productively.”
