IIT Bombay best in India, ranked 40th in QS Asia University Rankings 2024

IIT Delhi, IISc Bangalore, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras and Delhi University have also made it to top 100 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) has emerged as the best institute in the country in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024. IIT Bombay has been ranked 40th this year in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024.
The QS Asia University Rankings 2024 results were released today by a British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Other Indian institute which made it to top 100 in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024 include IIT Delhi, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras and University of Delhi. A total of 148 institutions of India are represented in the rankings. China is represented with 133 and Japan with 96 institutions.
IIT Bombay secured an overall score of 67.2 out of 100. The institute has scored 83.5 in academic reputation, 96 in employer reputation, 9.3 in citation per paper, 14.8 in faculty-student ratio, 100 in staff with PhD, 95.7 in papers per faculty, 66.3 international research network, 11.1 in international faculty ratio, 3 in international students ratio, 2.1 in inbound exchange and 4.1 in outbound exchange.
Among these 11 indicators, staff with PhD indicated the strongest one for IIT Bombay. In the 2024 edition of regional rankings, the institute performed among the top 5% in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024. The Institute was ranked 40th last year too.
Peking University top Asian institution
Peking University has emerged as the top university in Asia. It is followed by the University of Hong Kong, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Tsinghua University.
In top 10, China is represented by four institutions while Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore have two universities each in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024.
IIT Bombay has been ranked 149 in the QS World Rankings 2024. Massachusetts Institute of Technology had topped the QS World University Rankings 2024 with Cambridge University, Oxford University, Harvard University and Stanford University taking the next four positions, respectively.
