IIT Delhi partners with WaveX to strengthen innovation, student entrepreneurship

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has joined hands with WaveX, a startup accelerator under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, to boost innovation and entrepreneurship in media, entertainment, broadcasting, and communication technologies.

IIT Delhi’s Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) partners with WaveX aims to expand the startup’s programmes to promote innovation and entrepreneurship through incubation centres across the country.

This partnership is a significant step towards leveraging IIT Delhi’s academic, research and innovation capabilities under the WaveX framework to enhance the growth and technological commercialisation of startup companies. This will further strengthen India’s media and entertainment innovation ecosystem.

“Under this collaboration, FITT-IIT Delhi will provide strategic and operational support for setting up incubators, facilitate connections with other IITs and innovation centres, and provide startups and incubator managers with access to technical expertise, research facilities, mentorship, intellectual property support, and skill development initiatives,” the press release said.

“WaveX will provide financial assistance, policy support, and national-level recognition to help startups with mentorship, infrastructure, business partnerships, and access to global investors,” the notice added.

WaveX to use IIT Delhi’s academic strengths

WaveX is designed to be a national driving force for innovation in media and entertainment technologies, accelerating media tech startups and supporting the creation of world-class incubation facilities, said Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of Information and Broadcasting.

The partnership reflects the organisation’s commitment to technology-based entrepreneurship and aims to build a strong national incubation platform by connecting policy, academia and industry, said Nikhil Agarwal, Managing Director of FITT.
