IIT Guwahati launches MTech in Robotics, AI in hybrid mode; no GATE score required, apply by July 15

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has launched an MTech programme in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The course is designed for both fresh graduates and working professionals who want to build skills in AI and robotics.
The IIT Guwahati’s MTech in robotics and AI programme will be offered in hybrid mode. Classes will be held online, while lab sessions and final exams will be held at the IIT Guwahati campus.
Interested and eligible candidates can apply online for IIT Guwahati admission 2026 to the MTech in Robotics and AI course at iitg.ac.in. The last date to apply for IIT Guwahati MTech admission 2026 is July 15, 2026. Classes for the first batch will begin on August 10, 2026.

“The course aims to combine different engineering fields and prepare students for sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing, defence, and smart infrastructure”, the institute said.
"The programme is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in robotics and AI and to help learners build practical knowledge for industry roles," it added.
IIT Guwahati’s MTech in AI: Eligibility
Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as engineering, technology, or design with at least 60% aggregate marks, and who have studied mathematics up to Class 12, are eligible to apply for IIT Guwahati MTech in Robotics and AI admission 2026.
As per the IIT Guwahati MTech admission criteria for the Robotics and AI course, candidates do not need a GATE score to apply. Admissions will be based on a written test or interview conducted by the institute.
The programme offers flexible learning with multiple entry and exit options. Students can earn different qualifications depending on how long they study. These include a PG certificate, PG diploma, master of science (engineering), and an MTech degree.
The minimum duration of the course is two years, and students can complete it within a maximum of five years. This flexibility helps working professionals manage their studies along with their jobs.
Students will also get chances to visit the IIT Guwahati campus for practical training, project work, and interaction with faculty and experts. The course covers topics like machine learning, computer vision, robotics, and automation, with a focus on real-world use.
