IIT Guwahati starts registration for online BSc (Hons) in Data Science, AI; apply here

Candidates can apply for BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Ai at IIT Guwahati at cousera.org till September 30.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has opened the application process for the online BSc (Hons) in data science and artificial intelligence (AI). The university said the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2023 score will not be compulsory for admission to the programme and they can apply at cousera.org.
The online BSc degree programme is open for high school graduates (science or non-science backgrounds), students pursuing parallel degrees, working professionals, young entrepreneurs, or aspirants seeking a career change or valuable knowledge in data science and AI. The application window will close on September 30. The classes will start on October 30.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates applying for the degree programme should have secured a minimum of 60% in Class 12 or equivalent exam, with mathematics, from a recognised education board or university. Students who are eligible for the JEE Advanced (in any year) will be eligible for direct admission, while those without it are required to undertake an online qualifier test to qualify
The IIT Guwahati said the programme aims at preparing students for roles such as AI engineer, machine learning engineer, AI research scientist, big data engineer, data analyst, and business intelligence analyst.
BSc (data science and AI): Multiple exit option
The students pursuing the course will have the option of multiple exit options. Those leaving the programme in the first and second years will be awarded a foundational certificate and diploma respectively. Students exiting in third year will be awarded bachelor's degree while those completing the four years will get BSc (Hon) degree. The students will also have the option to rejoin the course after a year break and to complete the degree in eight years.
The students will be able to attend optional immersion sessions for valuable on-campus experience, convocation ceremony and access to IIT Guwahati's alumni network.
The industry oriented curriculum covers cutting-edge topics in AI, including data efficient deep learning, deep reinforcement learning, deep representation learning, deep generative models and applications, and AI ethics, the IIT Guwahati said.
The graduates would be eligible to apply for a Master’s or a PhD degree at IIT Guwahati . Candidates can apply for the programme here.
