NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur launched the ASEAN-India Start-up Festival 2024 hosted by Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC). The event is being held in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

The three-day event aims to bring together 100 startups, industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to promote innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth.
The festival is a stage for collaboration bringing together innovation from India and ASEAN. The event aims to unlock new opportunities, inspire entrepreneurial excellence, and share growth and technological advancements, IIT Kanpur statement said.
The opening day of the event began with panel discussions on topics such as the role of cultural intelligence in market expansion and emerging trends and techniques in cybersecurity. Many industry leaders provided insights and meaningful dialogue on critical topics, creating a platform for the exchange of ideas among participants.
Manindra Agrawal, director of IIT Kanpur, welcomed the attendees and said: “At IIT Kanpur, we are honored to host this platform that unites visionary minds from across borders, igniting an entrepreneurial spirit that drives sustainable growth and technological innovation. The ASEAN-India Start-up Festival 2024 embodies the transformative power of collaboration in building a brighter, more inclusive future.”
Satvinder Singh, the deputy secretary general of ASEAN said: “This festival exemplifies the shared vision of ASEAN and India for a future defined by inclusivity and sustainability.” He further adds, that the event highlights our growing capacity to address regional challenges through innovation, proving that we no longer need to rely on the West but can forge our path driven by collaboration and regional strength.
