IIT Madras awards certificates to 800 for completing over 3 NPTEL courses; 29 lakh enrolled so far

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has organised the NPTEL Stars Event to recognise achievements of learners through the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) platform. The event was held on campus on Sunday, February 9.
The NPTEL Stars Event witnessed more than 800 NPTEL learners who completed and got certified in over three NPTEL courses in the previous semesters. The function aimed at recognising the achievement of students who have demonstrated excellence in various online NPTEL courses such as technical, non-technical, and interdisciplinary topics, the institute said.
On February 4, IIT Madras’s Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) announced the partnership with the CII Institute of Logistics to relaunch the supply chain management profession (SCMPro) certificate programme.
V Kamakoti, director at IIT Madras, said: “SWAYAM-NPTEL has been a cornerstone of the Ministry of Education’s mission to make quality education accessible to all and IIT Madras takes the pride of being the coordinating institute. The dedication of learners recognized today is a testament to the transformative potential of online education. We are proud to celebrate their achievements.”
The NPTEL is a collaborative initiative by IITs and IISc, to offer various online courses in technical, non-technical, and interdisciplinary domains, the institute said. Faculty members from various colleges, and universities also take part in the faculty development programme.

'NPTEL Stars'
Over 29 lakh students enrolled for 733 courses offered on NPTEL from July to December 2024 semesters and around 9.2 lakh students registered and wrote the exam, it added.
Andrew Thangaraj, chair, Center for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), IIT Madras; Vignesh Muthuvijayan, associate chair, CODE, IIT Madras, including other faculty, students and learners also took part in the event.
Professors from NPTEL courses also gave speeches and told “inspiring stories about their journeys” to the audience. An engaging interactive session was also organised with course faculties for the learners and a special workshop was conducted. Students from the NPTEL stars were conferred certificates during the event.
