NEW DELHI: The placement drives in various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have started. More than 350 companies are participating in the IIT Bombay placement drive 2023 phase 1 while over 360 firms will hire students at IIT Delhi this academic year.
The job drives are also underway at IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati. This year, the job offers and participating companies have seen a drop at placement drives of IITs in comparison to last year.
More than 200 students have accepted pre-placement offers in the first phase of IIT Bombay placement drive 2023. Companies such as PSUs, HPCL, C-DOT, ONGC, Google India, Apple, Microsoft, Sony and Tata Group will be participating in the placement drive phase 1, which will continue till December 15, 2023.
Around 40 companies conducted interviews in two slots of IIT Bombay placement drive on December 1. Compared to last year, 80% of the regular recruiters participated in the process.
The IIT Delhi placement drive 2023-24 is being conducted for recruiting undergraduate and postgraduate students. The job drive will conclude in May 2024. The hiring process is being held in both physical and online modes.
Over 360 domestic and international companies have registered for the IIT placement drive 2023-24. They are offering around 660 job roles across various sectors.
IIT Delhi students have received 480 full-time employment offers (including pre-placement offers) with approximately 450 unique selections till December 1.
Around 25 students have received job offers from companies in Hong Kong, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States.

In Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, more than 700 students have received placement offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs). A total of 19 students have received international offers.
"More than 61 companies offered various roles to our students mainly in the profile of software, analytics, finance–banking, consulting and core engineering which includes the Pre-placement offers from Apple, Arthur D Little, Da Vinci, Capital One, DE Shaw, EXL Services, Glean, Google, Graviton, Microsoft, Mckinsey, Quantbox, Databricks, Square point, TSM, Palo Alto and many more," an IIT Kharagpur statement said.
Students of IIT Roorkee have received 504 job offers, including pre-placement offers in the placement drive and 16 international offers.
A total of 89 companies, of which 27 organisations, participated on December 2 and 3.
The companies participating in IIT Roorkee include Accenture Japan, American Express, Axis Bank, Barclays, Groww, ICICI Lombard, Infoedge, Inito, Meesho, Nation with Namo, Palo Alto Network, Samsung R&D Institute, Skiify Solutions, Standard Chartered, SuperAGI, Tata AiG, Wells Fargo and others.
A total of 214 students of IIT Guwahati have received pre-placement offers. On the first day of IIT Guwahati placement drive 2023 phase, 164 job offers were received. Most of the job offers were in core engineering and finance sectors.
Eleven students received annual salary packages of more than Rs 1 crore, four more than last year’s placement drive.
A total of 1,491 students have registered for placements across different streams of study this year. A total of 262 companies are participating in phase 1 of the drive.
