IIT Roorkee: First batch of BTech data science and AI secures 100% placements

IIT Roorkee Placement 2026: Students secured placements in leading global organisations in AI, technology, and finance, including Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, among others
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee’s Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence has secured 100% placement records for its first batch of BTech data science and artificial intelligence.
According to the official IIT Roorkee press release, the students secured opportunities across leading global organisations in AI, technology, finance, analytics, and research-driven sectors, including Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Salesforce, Samsung Research, Databricks, Barclays, Visa, and Warner Bros. Discovery, among others.
On the IIT Roorkee’s placement achievement, the institute's director K K Pant highlighted that the placement outcome is the effort of the graduating batch and said: “With this programme, IIT Roorkee has sought to move beyond traditional engineering pathways and create a pipeline of talent that is equipped to design, build, and deploy AI systems in real-world contexts.”

IIT Roorkee’s School of AI
The Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence was established in 2021 in partnership with the Mehta Family Foundation (MFF) and is among the dedicated undergraduate AI programmes within the IIT system, aiming to build deep, future-ready talent at scale for an AI-driven world.
Rahul Mehta, the founder of Mehta Family Foundation, also congratulated students of the first batch and said: “Seeing every single student from this inaugural cohort placed at top companies in India and around the world is a testament to the world-class programme built at IIT Roorkee. My compliments to the Director, faculty and staff at the institute.”
IIT Roorkee’s BTech data science and AI course has been aligned with the growing AI ecosystem by combining technical education with interdisciplinary and application-based learning.

Notably, undergraduate (UG) students from other batches also earned internships at globally reputed organisations such as Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, Salesforce, Mastercard, Samsung, Databricks, and Expedia, with several converting these opportunities into pre-placement offers.
Furthermore, the school’s postgraduate (PG) programmes in data science and artificial intelligence also recorded strong industry outcomes, reflecting the growing recognition of the AI School’s interdisciplinary and application-based approach in AI education.
