JMI, Bharatiya Shiksha Board to develop school-level tourism skill courses

The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (DTHM) at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has partnered with Bharatiya Shiksha Board (BSB) to develop and deliver school-level, job-role-based tourism skill courses in line with National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2023).

The collaboration between JMI and BSB will develop a curriculum for co-designing tourism skill based courses such as home stays management and agriculture tourism.

Students will be given training and certification in tourism. The programme will include implementation and assessment modules, followed by capacity building, and recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Rajesh Pratap Singh, secretary, BSB, expressed that this collaboration with Jamia Millia Islamia will provide a platform that equips students especially in the rural areas with market relevant skills in homestay management and create pathways for lifelong learning and career advancement in tourism.

The partnership agreement was signed between Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, registrar at JMI, and Rajesh Pratap Singh in presence of various professors and department heads at the university.

The BSB is a financially and administratively independent school education board set up by the Government of India through its autonomous body Maharshi Sandipani Rastriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan (MSRVVP), Ujjain, in the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of the then HRD (now Ministry of Education), according to the official statement.
