JEE Main 2023 Session 2 Updates: April 11, 12 exam question paper analysis, topics asked, answer key

The maximum marks to be awarded in JEE mains 2023 exam are 300. 

Candidates who took the JEE mains 2023 day 5 exam held on April 12, 2023 found the mathematics paper from moderate to difficult. 

The NTA will upload the answer key for JEE Main 2023 session 2 after the conclusion of the exams. As per trends, the JEE Mains answer key 2023 is expected to be out April 17 at the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.

The NTA will observe the final day of the JEE mains exam 2023 for session 2 on April 15, 2023.

Candidates about to take the JEE mains 2023 for April 15 exam will have to log on to jeemain.nta.nic.in to download hall ticket. They will be required to enter their application number and date of birth to access the hall ticket.  

The JEE mains 2023 exam for session 2 will take place in two shifts on April 13 too. Paper 1 will be held from 9 am until 12 pm, while paper 2 will be conducted from 3 pm until 6 pm. 

The candidates about to take the JEE 2023 session 2 exam scheduled for April 13 must note that they will be required to produce a valid government-issued photo ID proof at the exam centre, which includes Aadhar card, PAN card, Voter ID, passport etc.

JEE Main 2023 reporting time is 8:30 am in the morning shift and 2:30 pm for the second shift. 

"Since session 1 of JEE (Main) - 2023 Paper-2A (BArch) or Paper-2B (BPlanning) will be conducted in multi-shifts, NTA scores will be calculated corresponding to the raw (actual) marks obtained by a candidate. The calculated NTA scores for all the shifts will be declared on the NTA websites. This will comprise the NTA scores for each of the three parts (Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test or Planning Based Test) and the total in Paper 2A (B. Arch) or Paper 2B (B. Planning) of Session 1 of JEE (Main) 2023," said NTA in information bulletin. 

JEE Main 2023 shift 2 has ended at 6:30pm for candidates who appeared for both 2A for BArch, and 2B for BPlanning papers. 

JEE Main 2023 April 12 shift 2 has ended for those candidates who are giving either paper 2A for BArch or paper 2B for BPlanning. 

Candidates who appeared in today's JEE Main 2023 shift 1 exam will be able to download the unofficial answer key JEE Mains 2023 shift 1 for April 12 exams. As per the initial students’ reaction, the BTech paper was moderate in difficulty level.

The JEE Main 2023 exam duration for paper 2A for BArch and paper 2B for BPlanning is three hours each. If a candidate is appearing for both 2A and 2B papers, the duration will be 3 hours and 30 minutes. 

• In Physics, questions from Class 11th and Class 12th syllabus were approximate of the same weightage.
• In Chemistry, majorly questions were from the Class 11th syllabus.
• In Mathematics, majorly questions were from the Class 11th syllabus.
• Overall the questions from Class 11th syllabus dominated the paper.

According to Nitin Arora, Assistant Director Academics Engg., Aakash BYJU'S Live, the overall difficulty level was easy to moderate. Mathematics was the most difficult subject to attempt out of all three subjects. The order of difficulty in different subjects is Mathematics > Physics > Chemistry.

• Physics was rated as easy to moderate on the difficulty level. It consisted mostly of easy & moderate questions. Most of the questions were NCERT based and were evenly distributed among all major units and.
• Chemistry was rated as the easiest out of all. The number of questions in Physical Chemistry was more than in inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. 
• Mathematics was rated as moderate to difficult. Questions were asked from all chapters. Emphasis was on Algebra and on Calculus.

As per Ajay Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering, Aakash BYJU’S, NTA has increased the difficulty level for April 12(Shift 1) as compared to other sessions of JEE Main Exam (Phase 2), it was a paper of moderate level. Physics was the easiest of the lot whereas Mathematics because of lengthy calculations and tricky questions was considered to be moderate to difficult by many students.

• The reporting time for students was 8:20 am however the exam started sharp at 9 am.
• Students were not allowed to carry anything inside examination hall except a transparent ballpoint pen, admit card and aadhar card. Transparent water bottles were allowed. All guidelines as released by NTA earlier were followed for safety of the exam takers.
• Every student was made to go through a sanitizing station where they had to sanitize themselves through a foot press lever. Students reported that entry was stopped after 8:30 am.
• Personal masks were not allowed. Every student was given a fresh surgical mask at entry. 
• Metal detectors were used at the entry gate and no bags or wristwatches were allowed inside.
• Students reported that entry started as soon as they were screened at the entry point.
• A time clock on the computer screen was provided inside the examination hall.

The level of difficulty as per feedback from students on April 12, 2023 (forenoon session).

• Mathematics – Moderately Tough level. Questions were asked from all chapters with an emphasis on Chapters of Coordinate Geometry & Calculus. Mixed Concept Questions were asked from Circles, Ellipse, Hyperbola. In Algebra chapters covered where Vectors (2 questions), 3-D Geometry (3 to 4 questions), Binomial Theorem, Progressions, Matrices, Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics (2 questions), Permutation & Combination, and Probability. In Calculus- Functions (3 questions), Definite Integrals (2 questions), Area, Differential Equations. Numerical Section had lengthy calculations. A few questions were reported as Tricky.
• Physics – Easy level. Questions asked from Kinematics, Fluids, Heat & Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Gravitation, Rotational Motion, EM Waves,  Electrostatics, Semiconductors, Magnetism, AC Circuits, Current Electricity, Modern Physics & Ray Optics. Numerical-based questions were easy. Overall, this section was balanced as per students.
• Chemistry – Easy to Moderate Level. Inorganic Chemistry was given more weightage compared to Physical & Organic Chemistry. Numerical Based questions were mostly from Physical Chemistry – Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Ionic Equilibrium. Questions also asked from Chemistry in Everyday Life, p & d block, Phenols, Coordination Compounds. Some mixed-concept questions were asked in Organic Chemistry involving Amines, Aldehydes & Ketones, Biomolecules, Polymers. Some students reported matching the following questions in Inorganic Chemistry as time-consuming and tricky. Organic Chemistry was reported tricky.

In terms of order of difficulty – Mathematics was moderately tough while Physics was easy among the three subjects. Overall, this paper was of moderate level as per students.   

Rhe Mathematics had a total of 30 questions. Section 1 had 20 multiple-choice questions with single correct answers and Section 2 had 10 Numerical based questions out of which only 5 had to be attempted. The marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for the correct response, -1 for an incorrect response, and 0 if not attempted. The marking scheme for numerical-based questions was +4 for the correct response, -1 for the incorrect response and 0 in all other cases. The total marks for this section were 100.

As per Ramesh Batlish, Managing Partner and Head-FIITJEE Noida Centres, the Chemistry paper had a total of 30 questions. Section 1 had 20 multiple-choice questions with single correct answers and Section 2 had 10 Numerical based questions out of which only 5 had to be attempted. The marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for a correct response, -1 for an incorrect response, and 0 if not attempted. The marking scheme for numerical-based questions was +4 for the correct response, -1 for incorrect response and 0 in all other cases. The total marks for this section were 100.

The Physics paper analysis as per FIITJEE Noida centres-

• Physics had a total of 30 questions. Section 1 had 20 multiple-choice questions with single correct answers and Section 2 had 10 numerical-based questions out of which only 5 had to be attempted. The marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for the correct response, -1 for the incorrect response and 0 if not attempted. The marking scheme for numerical-based questions was +4 for correct response and 0 in all other cases. The total marks for this section were 100.

The toughest shift of JEE Mains 2023 session 2 exam can be analysed once the exam gets over.

The JEE Main 2023 exam will be held from 9 am to 12 noon and from 3 pm to 6 pm tomorrow.

The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2023 is as follows:

• The candidate must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
• The candidate must have obtained a minimum of 75% marks in the qualifying examination (or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards).
• There is no age limit for JEE Main.

The JEE Main 2023 Session 2 exam consists of two papers - Paper 1 (for BE/BTech courses) and Paper 2 (for BArch/BPlanning courses). Both papers are conducted in computer-based mode. Paper 1 has 90 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and Paper 2 has 82 questions (MCQs and drawing questions).

The JEE Main 2023 reporting time is by 8:30 am in the morning shift starting at 9 am and by 2:30 pm for the JEE Mains 2023 starting at 3 pm.

Question: How many attempts are there for JEE in 2023?

Answer: NTA is conducting the JEE Mains 2023 in two rounds this year. The first round was held in January, while the second started on April 6 and will get over on April 15.

No, watches are allowed in JEE Mains 2023 session 2 exam. 

As per NTA guidelines, candidates are not allowed to carry instruments, geometry or pencil box, handbag, purse, any kind of paper, stationery, textual material (printed or written material), eatables and water (loose or packed), mobile phone, earphone, microphone, pager, calculator, Docupen, slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets or devices in the JEE Main session 2 exam 2023 hall.

The JEE Mains hall ticket for April 12 and April 13 exams are being hosted on the jeemain.nta.nic.in admit card website. 

The remaining JEE Mains session 2 exam dates are April 13 and April 15. NTA will conduct the fifth day of the entrance test today for BE, BTech papers on the first shift and BArch and BPlanning papers on the second.

The NTA will be conducting the fifth day of the JEE Main 2023 session 2 exam. The first shift between 9 am to 12 noon will be held for BTech and BE papers, while the second from 3 pm to 6 pm will be conducted for BArch and BPlanning papers.

The NTA will release the official JEE Main answer key 2023 for the April session within a week after the conclusion of the engineering entrance exam on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in 2023. The tentative NTA JEE Main answer key 2023 release date is April 17, as per past trends.

Physics section was easy compared to chemistry and mathematics, as per the JEE Main question paper 2023 analysis for session 2 so far. Overall the JEE Mains 2023 paper was balanced with equal weightage given to both Class 11 and 12 CBSE syllabus.

As per the NTA JEE Main 2023 notification, if a candidate indulges in unfair means or cheating, they will be booked under the UNFAIR MEANS (UFM) case and may be debarred for three years in the future. The candidate “shall also be liable for criminal action and /or any other action as deemed fit.”

After the JEE mains exam 2023 for session 2 concludes, the NTA will release the results, after which top 2, 50,000 candidates will stand eligible to appear for JEE advanced 2023 exam. 

In case the candidates are caught cheating, copying etc in JEE mains exam 2023, their candidature shall be cancelled by the exam invigilators.

In terms of order of JEE Main 2023 session-2 difficulty – Maths was Moderate while Chemistry was reported Easy. Overall, this paper was Moderate level as per students.  

As per the NTA, a total of 8.6 lakh students applied for the JEE Main January session 2023 exam, out of which, 8.22 lakh candidates appeared for it.

In terms of order of difficulty of the JEE Main 2023 April 10 Shift-1, mathematics was easy to moderate while physics and chemistry were easy among the three subjects. Overall, the paper was easy level as per students.

A per NTA if a candidate indulges in unfair means or cheating, they will be booked under the UNFAIR MEANS (UFM) case and may be debarred for three years in the future. The candidate “shall also be liable for criminal action and /or any other action as deemed fit.”

Subject Wise Difficulty Level 

• Physics was rated as easy on the difficulty level. It consisted mostly of easy and moderate questions. Questions were evenly distributed among all units and most of the questions were NCERT based.
• Chemistry was rated as easy to moderate on difficulty level. Almost equal weightage was given to Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. 
• Mathematics was rated as moderate to difficult. Questions were asked from all chapters. Emphasis was on Algebra. 

Class Wise Distribution Level 

• In Physics, majorly questions were from the Class 12th syllabus.
• In Chemistry, majorly questions were from the Class 12th syllabus.
• In Mathematics, majorly questions were from the Class 11th syllabus.
• Overall the questions had an approximately equal weightage from the Class 11th & Class 12th syllabus.

Overall Difficulty Level 

The overall difficulty of JEE Main (Session 2) April 11, 2023 - Shift 1  was easy to moderate. Mathematics was the most difficult subject to attempt out of all three subjects.

NTA will declare the JEE Main 2023 result session 2 online on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Earlier, NTA released the result for JEE Main 2023 session 1 on February 6.

JEE Main 2023 candidates were allowed to enter exam hall till 2:30pm. Now, invigilator will give instructions.

A candidate who appeared for JEE Main 2023 session 2 shift 1 today said in a tweet, "What a main paper..Session 2 jee main math paper is even tougher than jee advanced. History broken that advance is tougher than mains in 10thApril session of shift-2  entrance examination."

JEE Main 2023 session April 11 shift 2 will begin from 3 PM and get over at 6 PM. 

The overall difficulty level of JEE Main paper 2 exam today, as per students associated with FIITJEE, was moderate.  In terms of order of Difficulty – Mathematics was Moderate Level while Physics was Easy amongst the three subjects, Ramesh Batlish Head, FIITJEE Noida said.

Chemistry – Easy to Moderate Level. 

Inorganic Chemistry was given more weightage compared to Physical & Organic Chemistry. Numerical Based questions were mostly from Physical Chemistry – Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Mole Concept, Ionic Equilibrium, Solid state. 

Questions also asked from Environmental Chemistry, p & d block, Phenols, Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compounds. 

Some mixed concept questions were asked in Organic Chemistry from Amines, Aldehydes & Ketones, Biomolecules, Polymers.

Physics – Easy level. 

Questions asked from Kinematics, Heat & Thermodynamics(3 to 4 questions), Kinetic Theory of Gases, Gravitation, Rotational Motion, EM Waves,  Electrostatics, Magnetism, AC Circuits, Current Electricity, Modern Physics & Ray Optics.

 Numerical based questions were easy. 

Overall, this section was balanced as per students.

As per FIITJEE expert, mathematics paper was of moderate level. Questions were asked from all chapters with emphasis on Chapters of Algebra & Calculus. Questions were asked from Vectors & 3 D Geometry (4 to 5 questions), Binomial Theorem, Progressions, Matrices, Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics, Permutation & Combination & Probability, Straight Lines & Circle , Parabola, Definite Integrals had 3 questions, Area, Differential Equations(2 questions). Numerical Section had lengthy calculations. Mixed concept questions were asked in Conic Sections. Few questions were reported as Tricky.

Candidates slated to appear in JEE mains 2023 exam for session 2 on April 12 will be required to enter application number and date of birth to download their hall ticket for the exam. 

Analysing today JEE Mains paper shift 1 exam, students who appeared for the exam said that the paper was moderate to hard.
