The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon start the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 registrations for admission to IITs, and other engineering colleges. Eligible engineering aspirants will be able to fill out the JEE Main 2026 application form through the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The NTA has announced the JEE Mains 2026 exam dates for BTech, BArch, BPlanning programmes.

The test agency will conduct JEE Main 2026 exam in two sessions. As per the official announcement JEE Main session 1 will be held from January 21 to January 30, 2026 while session 2 will be conducted from April 1 to April 10. Candidates can apply separately for each session, and the better of the two scores will be considered for merit and admission purposes.

NTA has also issued clarifications regarding a recent advisory about updating key identity documents such as Aadhaar, UDID, and category certificates. The agency stated that the advisory is not related to exam city allocation.

Candidates will still have the option to select their preferred exam city, contrary to claims in several media reports suggesting that exam centres would be assigned based solely on Aadhaar details. The agency is also working to increase the number of exam cities for JEE Main 2026 to ensure wider accessibility.

The exam will be conducted for admissions to Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs). Candidates who qualify in JEE Main 2026 will also be eligible to appear for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
