JEE Main 2026 session 1 exams from tomorrow; gate closing time, list of prohibited items

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 session 1 from January 21. The exam for Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes will be held on January 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28 in two shifts each day. The exam for Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) and Bachelor of Planning (BPlan) will be conducted on January 29 in a single shift. JEE Main Admit Card 2026 LIVE

The JEE Main 2026 first shift will be held from 9 am to 12 pm, while the second shift will take place from 3 pm to 6 pm. Candidates going to appear for the exam tomorrow can download the JEE Main admit card 2026 from the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.

JEE Main 2026 exam timings

The exam timings for JEE Main 2026 session 1, including entry and gate closing times, are provided in the table below. Candidates arriving after this time will not be allowed to enter. NTA has instructed candidates to reach the centres well in advance to complete verification and security procedures.

JEE Main 2026: Items not allowed

Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2026 should not to carry certain items inside the exam hall. Only the admit card, a valid photo identity, and the stationery specified by the NTA are allowed. All other electronic devices, personal belongings, and restricted materials must be left outside.

• Mobile phones, smart watches, or any other electronic communication devices.
• Calculators and other electronic gadgets.
• Books, notebooks, and loose sheets of paper.
• Bags, wallets, and purses.
• Jewellery, metallic items, or any personal accessories are not permitted by the exam centre.
• Any other items not specifically mentioned as allowed in the NTA instructions.

NTA has clarified that calculators and other electronic devices will not be provided or permitted in the exam hall. Candidates should rely on rough work sheets provided at the centre for calculations. Bringing personal calculators may lead to disqualification or denial of entry.
