As part of its initial announcement of dates, the NTA had said the JEE result date 2026 would come on or before February 12. More recent news reports said the result could come sooner. Now, the NTA has clarified that the results are coming by February 16, that is, early next week. The JEE Mains final answer key has not been published yet either. This has caused much confusion over the JEE Main result date 2026.
Through the normalisation process, the National Testing Agency converts raw marks into a standardised NTA score or percentile ranging from 100 to 0. This is a standard practice for exams that are conducted over multiple shifts and days with each shift getting different sets of question papers. This process ensures fairness by preventing students from being disadvantaged if their shift had a tougher paper or the other way around. However, past data and JEE Main cut-off trends can be indicative of both ranks and admission chances
The expected JEE Mains 2026 cut-off for the general category is between 93.5 and 95. For the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), it is expected to be between 80 and 82; for Other Backward Classes - Non Creamy Layer (NCL), between 79 and 81; Scheduled Caste (SC), between 61 and 63; for Scheduled Tribe (ST), between for 47.5 and 50; and for Unreserved - Persons with Disability, between 0.001 and 0.02.
More than 13 lakh candidates appeared for the JEE Mains 2026 session 1 for admission to engineering, architecture and planning programmes.
The JEE Mains 2026 is also a gateway for admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlanning programmes at IITs, National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government-funded Technology Institutes (GFTIs).
Along with the JEE Mains 2026 session 1 results, the NTA will also announce the toppers list or All India Rank (AIR).
JEE Mains 2026 session 1 qualified candidates will also be able to register for the JoSAA counselling. Notably, those who will not be satisfied with their score will be able to register for JEE Main session 2 to improve their score.
