JKBOSE Class 10, 11 exams scheduled for August 27 postponed; Jammu schools closed due to heavy rain

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has postponed the Annual (Private) and Bi-Annual 2025 examinations for Class 10 and Class 11 Part 1, which were scheduled on August 27, 2025. The decision comes in view of the ongoing inclement weather and flood-like conditions in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Board stated that the new dates for the postponed JK Board Annual (Private) and Bi-Annual 2025 exam for Secondary School Examination (SSE)and Higher Secondary Examination Part 1 (HSE-1) will be announced separately.

In a separate order, the Directorate of School Education, Government of Jammu, has directed that all government and private schools in the Jammu Division will remain closed on August 27, 2025, in view of prevailing weather and flood conditions.

“In view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions and the occurrence of flood-like situations at various places across the region, it is hereby ordered that all Government as well as Private Schools in the Jammu Division shall continue to remain closed on 27th August, 2025,” the official notice said.

Heavy rain, rivers at alert level in Jammu

As per the PTI report, the Meteorological Department has forecast very heavy rainfall in the Jammu division over the next 40 hours, with water levels of the Basantar, Tawi, and Chenab rivers currently at the alert mark. Authorities have strongly advised people to avoid riverbanks and flood-prone areas.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has also suspended the constable recruitment drive for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Special Security Force (SSF), and Assam Rifles at BSF Paloura Camp, Jammu, on 26 August 2025, due to inclement weather and flood-like conditions. Candidates will now have to appear on 3 September 2025 for the recruitment process.
