NEW DELHI: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has started the registration process for PhD admission 2024. The university has also announced the PhD entrance exam pattern and eligibility criteria for seeking admission in the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes for the academic year 2024-25. The JMI PhD application form has been hosted on the official website, admission.jmi.ac.in.
Department of Science and Technology - Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST-INSPIRE) or any other equivalent fellowship holders who did not qualify any national-level test “will have to qualify either the national-level eligibility test or the university entrance test to be entitled for PhD admission”, it said. The last date to apply for JMI PhD admission 2024 is October 30.
“Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR-JRF/NET/AYUSH-NET/JRF examination or any other equivalent examination conducted by the recognized Governmental Department/ Institute/ Agency/ and GATE in the relevant area of research, and it shall be examined by the concerned DRC/CRC,” the university said in a statement.
The teacher fellowship holders such as Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) awardees of recognized colleges, universities, and institutions, will have to get a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from the competent authority to join the PhD programme and appear for the interview to discuss the research proposal. “Such candidates will have to produce a sanctioned study leave letter as per Government of India rules or relevant regulatory bodies as applicable at the time of admission”.
Those applicants seeking part-time PhD admission will also have to obtain “No objection Certificate” as per the conditions mentioned in PhD Ordinances.
Jamia Millia Islamia has announced the eligibility criteria for candidates seeking admission into PhD courses.
The JMI entrance test for admission to the PhD programme will be conducted in English medium, except in the language departments and Fine Arts, which may set the question paper in the concerned language.
JMI PhD entrance exam question paper 2024 will have two papers carrying equal weightage. Students will be given an hour to attempt paper 1 and three hours to attempt paper 2.
The question paper will have 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying one mark each on research methodology. Candidates who obtain at least 50% marks in aggregate of paper 1 and paper 2 will qualify for the interview.
Only those candidates who secure a minimum of 40% score in the interview will be declared qualified.
