JNUSU Elections 2025: Aditi Mishra secured the president’s post with 1,937 votes. Left Unity candidates Kizhakoot Gopika Babu (vice-president), Sunil Yadav (general secretary) and Danish Ali (joint secretary) also won.

The Left Unity alliance comprising the All India Students’ Association (AISA), Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Democratic Students’ Federation (DSF) has won all four central panel posts in the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections 2025. The JNUSU results 2025, declared today, November 6, saw a 67% turnout from 9,043 eligible voters.
Aditi Mishra of the Left Unity has won the president’s post with 1,937 votes, defeating Vikas Patel of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), who received 1,488 votes, by a margin of 449 votes. Shinde Vijayalakshmi Vyankat Rao of the Progressive Students’ Association (PSA) finished in third position with 1,276 votes.
In the vice-president election, Kizhakoot Gopika Babu from Left Unity got 3,101 votes, defeating Tanya Kumari from ABVP, who polled 1,787 votes, with a margin of 1,314 votes.
For the general secretary post, Sunil Yadav from Left Unity secured 2,005 votes, defeating Rajeshwar Kant Dubey (ABVP), who received 1,901 votes, a narrow margin of 104 votes.
In the joint secretary race, Danish Ali from Left Unity won with 2,083 votes while Anuj Damara (ABVP) received 1,797 votes, giving Danish a lead of 286 votes.
With this outcome, the United Left alliance regains significant control of the central panel. The JNUSU 2025 polls decided the four-member central panel and 47 school councillor positions.
In last year’s elections, the Left alliance won three of the four central panel posts in JNUSU. Nitish Kumar (AISA) was elected president, with Left candidates also securing vice-president and general secretary positions, while ABVP won the joint secretary.
The SFI Central Executive Committee issued a statement noting that the results reflect the students’ rejection of divisive politics and reaffirm the university’s democratic and secular values. The press release added that the Left Unity panel’s sweep of central panel and school councillor positions demonstrates continued support for collective, issue-based politics on campus.
"The Left Unity panel—comprising AISA, SFI, and DSF—has registered a sweeping victory, securing all four central panel posts by significant margins. Comrade K. Gopika Babu, SFI’s candidate for the post of Vice President, won by an impressive margin of around 1,500 votes, marking a major political achievement for the Left progressive movement inside the campus," the SFI said.
