JNVST Admission 2026: Last date for Class 9, 11 lateral entry applications extended to Oct 7

The JNV Selection Test 2026 for lateral admission to Class 9 and 11 will be conducted on February 7. The duration of the exam will be of two and a half hours.

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (JNV) has extended the last date to submit the JNV Selection Test (JNVST) application form to October 7. Students or parents can submit online applications for JNVST for admission to Class 9 and 11 for the academic year 2026-27 at cbseitms.rcil.gov.in.

The JNVST for admission to lateral entry in Class 9 and 11 will be conducted on February 7, 2025 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya across the country.

The students will be selected on the basis of the JNV Selection Test. As per the official notification, the result of lateral entry selection test 2026 will be declared tentatively in May or June 2026.

The JNVST result will include details of stream, JNV and the merit for which students will be selected. Registered students will also be able to check the results through Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, District Education Officer, District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti of the region, and the official website of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

Notably, the principals of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya will also be informed about the selected students for admission through SMS, followed by a speed post.

Only those students will be allowed to write the JNVST 2026 exam who are currently studying in Class 8 and 10 for the academic session 2025-26 in one of the government, government recognised schools of the district where the JNV is functioning.

Students district and resident of both the classes should be the same. For admission to class 9, all category candidates must be between May 1, 2011 to July 31, 2013 (both days inclusive).

Moreover, students who have already passed Class 8 and 10 in the previous academic year are not eligible to apply.

JNVST Class 11 Admission 2026: Marks distribution

As per the selection criteria, students have to score a minimum of 6 marks out of 20 as per NVS criteria in all the 5 subjects. However, the merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in different subjects as per the below given criteria.

JNVST Class 9 Exam Pattern 2026

The selection test will be held for 2 hours and 30 minutes without any break. Students will have to score minimum qualifying marks in all four subjects, as per the qualifying criteria. The composition of the Class 9 JNV selection test is given below.
