Kanpur University Convocation 2025: The total graduates includes 56,993 women and 45,543 men. At the campus level, 2,653 students graduated this year. The Chancellor awarded 97 medals to 59 students.
Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), formerly Kanpur University, holds its 40th convocation on September 18 at the Veerangana Rani Lakshmibai Auditorium. At the event, a total of 1,02,536 students received degrees, with female students making up 55.58 per cent of the recipients.
Out of the total graduates, 56,993 were women and 45,543 were men. At the campus level, a total of 2,653 students graduated this year, including 1,351 women and 1,302 men. Among the 99,808 students who graduated from affiliated colleges, 55,592 were women and 44,216 were men.
The official release highlights that the Chancellor awarded a total of 97 medals to 59 students. Of these, 45 medals were won by female students, representing 76.27 per cent of the total medal winners, while 14 male students received the remaining medals. In addition to the Chancellor’s and Vice-Chancellor’s gold, silver, and bronze medals, 53 sponsored gold medals were also awarded.
Komal Kamal from the School of Creative and Farming Arts received six medals, including the Chancellor’s Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Jeet Sharma of DWT College, Kanpur, is awarded four medals.
The university states that women also lead in research degrees. Out of 75 scholars awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), 50 are women and 25 are men. The Faculty of Arts records the highest number of PhDs, mainly in Hindi Literature and Economics, followed by Science, Medicine, Commerce, Law and Life Sciences.
According to the institute, degrees are uploaded to DigiLocker, with some demonstrated live. The Vice-Chancellor administers the convocation oath. Six teachers receive the Teacher Quality Award, 11 faculty-authored books are released, and athletes are honoured on stage.
On innovation, the institute recognises five startups – Pyregin Technologies, Joylicious, ZB Technologies, Zenhar Technology and Srijan Data Analytics – with the Outstanding Startup Award. Their projects cover drones, AI-based healthcare and agricultural monitoring systems.

The university also runs activities under the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Nari” campaign. Health check-ups, screenings and awareness drives on anaemia, cancer and other diseases take place at the campus health centre.
Chancellor Anandiben Patel congratulates medal and degree recipients. She said students engaged in study, research, and innovation are medal winners in their own right, and calls for promoting the KG to PG programme to strengthen education and research.
Chief guest and DRDO Chairman Sameer V Kamat said undergraduate education plays a transformative role. He highlights DRDO’s academic centres and notes ongoing work on hypersonic missiles, AI systems and cyber technologies.
