Maharashtra CAP Admissions 2025: Lateral entry to BTech and BE courses in Maharashtra is based on merit; admissions are through CAP counselling.
The State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET) Maharashtra has commenced the Maharashtra CAP Bachelor of Technology (BTech) and Bachelor of Engineering (BE) lateral entry admission process 2025. The direct second year admissions to BTech and BE courses are based on qualifying examination marks, through the centralised admission process (CAP).
The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) 2025 scores are not mandatory for lateral admission to undergraduate engineering courses. The eligibility criteria asks for the candidates to be Indian citizens, along with any one qualification from the following list:
- A minimum of 45% marks in a diploma in engineering or technology. For reserved categories of Maharashtra, the minimum limit is 40%.
- A minimum of 45% marks in a bachelor of science (BSc) degree. For reserved categories of Maharashtra, the minimum limit is 40%. Passed Class 12 with mathematics as a subject.
- Passed a Diploma of Vocation (DVoc) in the same or allied sector.

Maharashtra CAP 2025: BTech lateral entry registration fees
The registration fee for the direct second year engineering and technology admissions is Rs 1,000 for general candidates. The registration fee is Rs 800 for reserved category candidates belonging to Maharashtra state. All candidates have to pay a seat acceptance fee of Rs 1,000 if they are selected.
For BTech and BE lateral admission 2025 in Maharashtra, candidates can opt for either E-Scrutiny or Physical Scrutiny. For the E-Scrutiny, candidates can upload their documents from anywhere, and a designated E-Scrutiny Centre will conduct the document verification online. For the other mode, candidates need to visit a Physical Scrutiny Centre during the verification dates.
