Maharashtra to form taluka, district-level teacher groups to set CCE question papers for Classes 1-12

In line with a new continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE) system for schools under National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the Maharashtra government has directed schools to create taluka (tehsil) and district-level subject-specific group of teachers to prepare unit, semester and annual test question papers for classes 1 to 12.

The government also clarified that schools looking forward to using their own question papers are required to get them approved by the respective taluka and district committees a month before the examination.

A detailed draft of the NEP-aligned CCE will soon be released by the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Pune, Maharashtra, according to an official statement.

The state council has also asked schools to select 10-15 teachers from all the schools in the talukas of the district. These talukas should be proficient in the subject and medium, and should have brought their class to the required level of learning, the statement reads.

Talukas to prepare study guide for half-yearly exams

“The district education and education institutions shall prepare similar groups of teachers at the district level, subject-wise and medium-wise,” the official statement said.

The Taluka-level groups should also prepare study guides for the half-yearly examinations and both the component test examinations, it added.

An annual examination booklet will be prepared by the district group. If the taluka group will not be able to prepare the booklet, the district group will have to work for it, the council said in the official statement.

“If the test prepared by one taluka group is used in another taluka, it will eliminate the possibility of teachers in that group using or practicing the test in their own schools,” it added.

Furthermore, the sample test paper will be checked by the principal, district education and educational institution, educational officer (primary) and educational officer (secondary).

Parents-teachers meeting to be held every year on May 1 or 2

A state level training for district level students on syllabus making skills will be organised soon, it said.

Similarly, special training for selected groups in all talukas, and districts should be organized by the district education and training institutes. If such training is required by the teachers of any other schools, such training should also be provided to them, the council said.

“There will be special incentives given to the selected candidates in the state and the district administration officers of the selected candidates in the state through the State Council for Educational Research and Training,” the document reads.

It also stated that all parents should be called to the school with a suitable plan on May 1 or 2 of every month and all teachers should show them the answer sheets of all the subjects of the annual examination. Teachers should also provide necessary instructions for the academic progress of the students.

“Along with this, the parents should be informed about the same after the half-yearly examination and both the component tests are conducted. The principals and teachers of the concerned schools should also ensure that the study-teaching days are not used while doing the said work. So that more parents can participate in this process and can add to the academic progress of their children as per the guidance of the teachers,” the council said.

The procedure should be implemented for four years after the inclusion of the new CCE, the statement concludes.
