In a major crackdown on irregularities, the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell has disqualified 220 candidates from MBBS and BDS admissions from the Maharashtra NEET UG round 3 counselling and the next round of admission process. The action comes nearly two weeks after the CET Cell found 152 MBBS aspirants had forged certificates to block seats.
According to the data shared by the CET Cell, 170 students had uploaded wrong or invalid documents and 50 did not upload any documents. These 220 students have been barred from admission in this and the next admission round.
The Maharashtra NEET UG round 3 selection result has listed 29,165 candidates and their admission status with many getting no allotments as the choice opted by them were not available.

After the second round, there were 1,764 vacant medical seats in the state, including 789 for MBBS and 975 for BDS. While 621 MBBS seats are vacant for MBBS in private medical colleges and 915 BDS seats were unfilled.
As per the revised schedule, students allotted seats in the Maharashtra NEET UG round 3 counselling will have to report at the college in person between October 31 and November 4 to confirm their admission.
Selected students are also required to fill the status retention form at college by 5.30 pm on November 4. The medical colleges will verify the original documents and ascertain eligibility of the candidates
The CET Cell said that the provisional selection is done on the basis of information submitted by the candidates in their application form. However, the final selection will be confirmed only after verifying the original documents.
The Maharashtra State CET Cell verified the documents candidates after receiving representations from participating students and found 152 candidates have uploaded forged documents. Weeks later, officials found 171 new aspirants had uploaded wrong documents.
Notices were sent to these students and they were asked to reupload their original documents before the deadline. Following this, only one candidate had uploaded the correct documents and the remaining 170 students failed to upload the documents.
Additionally, 108 students did not upload any document despite receiving the notice. Out of these 58 uploaded their certificates for verification and the remaining 50 did not update their applications. As a result, 220 students have been excluded from round 3 and the next round of MBBS admission in Maharashtra.
The Supreme Court had directed the state and the National Medical Commission (NMC) to take strict actions against those who block medical seats and involve in malpractices.
