NEW DELHI : The Maharashtra state government’s Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan scheme has decided to fund for distribution of school uniforms to around 44 lakh primary school students across the state through a decentralized method (by school management), as before. The decision has been reverted after students across the state ran into numerous obstacles.
To date, many students at government schools are yet to get their uniforms for the current academic year and complaints of ill-fitted clothes also arose.
According to the official statement, a new government resolution (GR) will provide funds to the respective school management committees. However, the design and colors of uniforms will continue to be the same around the state under the 'one state one uniform' policy.
Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan uniform scheme, uniforms are provided to all government school students as well as disadvantaged students in aided schools.

‘One State One Uniform' policy
The teachers and other representatives demanded the benefits of the uniform scheme to be provided in the decentralized manner as before. Additionally, the fixed amount for the scheme should be credited to the school management committee's account through the Maharashtra Primary Education Council, Mumbai, within the stipulated timeline.
Under the policy of "One State, One Uniform,” students will be given uniforms. Most of the students studying in Classes 1 to 8 will be provided with uniforms from the government level from the academic year 2024-25.
