Centre launches Adi Karmayogi student chapters at IITs, NITs, IIMs, AIIMS, top universities

Following the launch of Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs formally inaugurated the Adi Karmayogi Student Chapters at renowned institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other universities.

Interested institutions can apply to establish the student platforms at adiprasaran.tribal.gov.in. The Bhagwan Birsa Munda Cell at IIT Delhi will serve as the nodal hub for the pan-India programme. The initiative aims to empower tribal youth to become leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.

Some of the objectives of the programme include fostering innovation and technology, promoting entrepreneurship, supporting Eklayva Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and Ashram schools, guiding students in preparing development strategies, facilitating internships and fellowships, providing certifications for employability, training tribal students in semiconductor fabrication and frontier technologies.

Activities proposed under Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan

The ministry has proposed workshops and hackathons, mentorship programmes, village adoption and vision led by students, motivational campaigns, recognition and awards, among activities under the initiative.

Commenting on the launch of programme, Vibhu Nayar, secretary to the tribal affairs ministry, said: “By connecting students from IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, NITs, and other top institutes with tribal communities and development programmes, we are nurturing a generation of young leaders who will shape India’s educational, social, and entrepreneurial landscape. Adi Karmayogi Student Chapters represent the future of youth leadership in India, in line with the H’PM’s Vision, paving the way for a Viksit Bharat @2047.”
