Mumbai University UG admissions 2026 begin today; registration open till May 21 on official portal

MU opens UG admission registration for 2026–27; check merit list dates, NEP courses, eligibility and key deadlines

The University of Mumbai will start the registration process for Undergraduate (UG) admissions 2026 today, May 6, 2026 at 11 am. Students can apply on the official admission portal of MU at muugadmission.samarth.edu.in. The last date to apply for the first-year admission to non-professional degree programs is May 21, 2026 up to 1 pm.

Students should keep essential documents ready before applying, including a passport-size photograph, their signature, Class 12 marksheet, and a category certificate if applicable.

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, University of Mumbai will offer a range of programmes including three-year undergraduate (UG) courses, four-year UG honours programmes with a research component, and five-year integrated UG and postgraduate (PG) courses.

MU UG 2026 admission: Reservation policy and special provisions

The reservation policies are in line with government norms for undergraduate admissions. The distribution includes 13% for scheduled castes (SC), 7% for scheduled tribes (ST), 19% for other backward classes (OBC), 10% for economically weaker sections (EWS), and 10% for socially and educationally backward classes (SEBC). In addition, other categories such as nomadic tribes (NT) and denotified tribes (DT) are also allotted reserved seats as per applicable rules.

Apart from category-based reservations, several special provisions have been introduced to ensure inclusivity. These include 30% reservation for women and 5% for persons with disabilities. Special consideration is given to children of freedom fighters and ex-servicemen, along with quotas for sports achievers. Additionally, affiliated colleges may have a 15% management quota, while preference is also extended to students with achievements in (NCC) and (NSS).
